Dazza, can't give a 100% yes at the moment, still awaiting a date for my first leg op and it could be tomorrow or in 10 weeks time. Will need to let you know closer to the date.

Few years ago whilst on a tour to Normandy I accidentally filled up with fuel with the highest Ethonol content available at the time
Morning, do you have more details on 'what' fuel it was exactly.

This was over 5 years ago, can't remember what I had for dinner yesterday let alone the minute details from 5 years ago

Initially everything was ok but was on a motorway, as soon as I got of the motorway and slowed to town speeds fuel was losing out of my overflows.

Managed to get to my B&B without bursting into flames and had to pull off the carbs , the o-rings on the  float needle assemblies were definitely deteriorated and allowing fuel past. Left them overnight to dry out and reassembled the carbs with a little PTFE tape to help the o-rings. Had no issues the rest of the trip but changed the o-rings once I got home

Like Mtread I'm a probable but baulking at the thought of using the North Circular, even on a Sunday.

One possible fly in the ointment, doesn't the owner have a thing against Fazers, one of the last times I was there heard he had asked some of our brethren to park out of sight

I'd not looked at other Yamaha bikes as I wanted to keep the same wheel geometry (rim width & tyre size) as I had heard that going to a R1 wheel with a 190 tyre has a minor negative effect on the bikes steering, plus you can swap existing tyres from current Fazer wheels.

I don't think there would be much in it between using R6 and FZ1 wheels and the modifications you would need to do to fit them to the fazer as things like sprocket carriers look fairly similar, pity there arn't old style breakers that you could sometimes go and measure and try parts next to each other.

Not too worried about scuffing the fazer she's a user, not a trailer queen and already has already a few marks gained in the 59K miles and 18 years she's done.

Verra Noice, can we see shots of the whole bike with the 5 spokes...?

Not the best photo but the best one to hand. Will get a better one over the weekend.

I've done it, need more than just a spacer for the rear brake side, I used a FZ1 ABS Caliper mount and caliper modified to use the Gen 1 torque arm.
you will also need the Front R6 or R1 Discs (5 Bolt) .

THe sprocket side you can use the Fazer carrier and spacers.

See Photos for images of the rear wheel brake side modified caliper bracket and spacer.

I did it this way as the mod is reversible, using R6 or FZ1 caliper carriers needs you to weld a block to the swinging arm.

For reference I used a set of 2003 R6 wheels, don't know the vehicle code.

That's sweet mate, you know it's going to be a hard choice deciding which one to take. Pics of the scrambler please when it happens  :)
Let's get the old gang together and have a blow out.
Now where's Red, Kitcrazy, Harry Hornby and Midden ?

Just for you Dazza.

Added some bits since I've got it. Is 2 yrs old with race exh system, and other accessories and only 1200 miles.
One thing for sure, Dukes are expensive to keep and modify  :) :)

I want all my mods to be reversable, others have welded on blocks to the swinging arms to use the brake caliper mounting bracket without modding it. I wanted to use the GEN1  torque arm, so the ABS bracket worked well

I'm using 2003 R6 wheels and FZ1 (unknown year) discs with 6 bolt fixing. rather than the 5 bolt fixing found on Gen 1 wheels.

Repeat after me.................... I'm a f@(king idiot, I'm a f@(king idiot, :rolleyes :rolleyes :rolleyes

The Front wheel was a straight drop in with the fazer spindle and spacers.

The rear needs additional spacers on the disc side. Being the same rim size as a Gen1 the R6 rear wheel is easier to to work out what spacers are needed as the rim offsets to the swinging arm are common. You can use the fazer sprocket carrier and spacer.

I ended up using a FZ1 rear disc, much modified FZ1 ABS Caliper carrier, generic Yamaha sliding rear caliper and a machined spacer.

Yeah perfect. I am just about fitting 99 R1 forks. So the 2003 R6 front wheel should fit too. I will take a look on which year of FZ1 has discs with 6 bolt pattern.Dont you have any picture of your front end too?

I haven't got any recent close up pictures of the front end but have one from a few years ago(about 2017), it shows 310mm discs that came with the wheels. I have 320mm discs on the bike now.

Tried  the usual UK performance part makers some years ago (2015) but no one was interested, ended up going to a company in the USA, BrakeTech, who supplied a set of adaptors.

Just checked their website and the adaptors are no longer mentioned, might still be worth contacting them.

They weren't cheap even then $200 ex-works plus import duty.

Dazza,

I'll be up for that, still got the Fazer but don't use it much now I've got the Mutley and probably even less soon, as I pick up a 1100 Scrambler sport tomorrow.

Stig might want the tyres to use as fenders for his houseboat
