General / May have found a US bike
« on: 25 September 2012, 03:32:04 pm »
Some lad is selling his son's bike because he can't be trusted, apparently. So I might be getting a Honda CB900 dirt cheap.

Apparently it's been left in a garage for two months and now isn't running. Rather than telling him to fix it and buy it running, thinking of telling him to leave it and buy it as a non-runner so I can hammer him on price. What do you reckon? Service the carbs and it should be alright?

Carbs. Blech. It's the 21st century, people. Get with the fuel-injected cool kids, people.

General / Anyone used cmsnl.com for parts?
« on: 20 August 2012, 07:35:36 pm »
Just put together my parts list so's I can get my dad to replace the exhaust manifold studs, gaskets and nuts on Bess, and the official Yamaha parts total comes to €62.00 on cmsnl.com (One of the few places that seem to sell by Yam parts number.)

4x Gaskets @ €4.50 each
8x Studs @ €2.50 each
8x Nuts @ €3.00 each (WTF?)

Seems a bit out of whack, frankly. Does anyone know of a website that will show you equivalent non-yamaha parts, because close to 90 EUR seems a bit stiff for maybe a hundred grams of metal... Or better yet, does anyone know anyone who sells the Yam parts cheaper?

General / What up from the States
« on: 08 August 2012, 04:22:59 pm »
OK, I've been here a month now and I'm frigging bored.

* Everyone rides Harleys. Everyone thinks they're great
* Everyone is retarded
* I tried to rent a bike. All they had were Harleys. I didn't bother.
* It's getting to the point where I might bother.
* I need a Michigan bike license to buy a bike
* To get a Michigan bike license I need a Michigan car license, since the bike is an entitlement on a car license
* Everyone is trying to sell me something
* Can't go to the pub, because there are no pubs
* Can't get bladdered because you need a car to get anywhere
* If you *do* go to a bar there's always a lad in there, so it costs a dollar to take a piss.

Miss Blighty, miss my bike, and I miss people with a properly developed sense of proportion.

What's been going on 'round here, then?

FZ6 / Fazer / Downpipe mounting studs

I've got me dad looking after Black Bess while I'm in the States, and while she's there I thought I'd task him with a bit of maintenance.

The bolts that hold the exhausts onto the engine, does anyone know what size they are and where I can get a nice set of rustproof stainless ones, with a gasket, too?

General / Route Suggestions - Manchester
« on: 28 June 2012, 11:40:22 am »
Going to my mate's house over the weekend for a rideout before I leave for the weekend, up in Manchester. Used to live up there myself, but I was a cager, so I only know the motorways.

Any ideas for a loop, starting and ending in Manchester, with a length of about 4 / 5 hours? He's a cruiser rider, so nothing too arduous...

Not sure if this has been posted before, but this is a software program that lets you stick routes into a tomtom or garmin GPS unit, and the website is a community of bikers who create interesting routes and share them.

Oh, and the creator's a biker ;-)

General / http://www.focusedevents.com - Anyone used 'em?
« on: 08 June 2012, 09:17:57 am »
Want to learn to be a bit lot quicker, and a days track instruction at £130 seems too good to be true. So it probably is.

Anyone heard anything about them?

General / BASTARD! (Just got run off the road)
« on: 06 June 2012, 12:35:57 am »
A30 in Staines, on a roundabout. Somehow a moron tried to merge into my lane and clipped the back of my bike. Stayed upright and all he managed to do was smash half the number plate off, but I managed to put a decent ding in his passenger door with my shiny new Daytonas (No holes!). Cunt drove off without checking to see if he'd killed me. Had a bunch of Jesus fish on the back as well.

Got stopped by a plod once, but he was pretty understanding. There is an upside though, no plate meant I could blast along the south circular at 50...

General / I need a new lid; recommendations?
« on: 21 May 2012, 11:57:42 am »
So I dropped my Shark S900 the other week and bent the sun-visor lever. It's finally gotten annoying enough to warrant a replacement. So my question is this: If you were buying for yourself in the next couple of months, what would you get?

Budget doesn't matter a whole lot, but a decent SHARP rating and not being too garish does.

General / Go on then... Mod advice, please...

Since I'm new to this, what kind of mods do you guys run, and what would you do to my '06 FZ6?

Introduction / Hey from a London-based Noob
« on: 25 April 2012, 11:50:07 am »
So, I'm Brad and a fortnight ago I passed my mod two.
Saturday gone I traded in my YZF R125 for an '06 FZ6, which some nice person had kindly put a pair of Scorpion cans on for me.

I am suitably impressed  :D
Are any of you lot around the London area and feel like showing a newbie the ropes?
