August 2008, you would get around 210 yen for one pound.
So your bike cost about 149730 yen.
Convert that at today's rate, it would be 10,300 quid.

Note also that the pound is as strong as it's been against the Yen for 3 years.  Yamaha or the importer are taking a big hit trying to shift these bikes.  Margins have been squeezed.

Like I say the good news, if you are buying Japanese goods is the pound is strengthening against the Yen.  The Japanese of course have been desperately trying to weaken their currency.

But will probably have to strengthen a bit bit more (doubtful or anybodies guess) for prices of stuff like bikes to be cut, as manufacturer and importer, it would appear, have taken quite a bit of the pain.

But no, I dunno where I'm gonna find 10 grand for a new bike either.

Interstingly, the chap I bought my Fazer from was saying the same thing about bike prices taking a hike over the last few years.

Can only increase the demand for decent second hand bike I guess.

I'll be keeping my one nice and clean! :lol
