strange fairing stickers?
« on: 19 July 2012, 08:36:34 pm »
Hi,
I bought a 53 plate 1000 fazer about 3 weeks ago (and lovin it!).
I wonder if someone can help. The sticker on the fairing says 'FZR', with 1000 exup underneath in small writing.
Everyone other one I've seen says 'FAZER' on the fairing. Why is mine like this?
Thanks,
mustardbufc

I think you will find it says "FZ1" and not FZR and this means it is an import.

Should usually mean you pay around 10% less for it than an equivalent UK bike.

Ghostbiker,
Pic attached hopefully, if not I'll do it tomorrow on laptop rather than phone.

Whale,
Think it is fzr. If it is an import how could I find out? Chassis number and a Yamaha dealer?

Thanks for replies,
Mustardbufc

Definitely says FZR, not FZ1 so unlikely to be an import.  To be sure, contact Yamaha UK with the chassis number.

It probably means that the bike has been repaired and the wrong stickers used. :)

Hi mustard,
Stick a R1 front end in then you could have FZR1 ?
Strange sticker that ,even an FZR1000 exup from late 80's never had a sticker in that font if IRC. Maybe previous owner bought sticker off eBay from abroad or something?
Odd one that  :rolleyes
Jacko  :)

Thanks for those replies.

Log book says registered in uk from new. It was HPI clear, not that that means it couldn't have had a repair.

I'll check with Yamaha if I can and maybe order some FAZER stickers if the others aren't lacquered over.

Don't think I need the R1 forks yet Jackojet, it seems to handle ok at the moment, but then I've just come from an older style (teapot) GSXF600 that was maybe do for a fork and shock overhaul!

If I remember - they should be able to make up any design you would want.

Cheers Lazarus,
I would say that price is good comparing to what original Yamaha ones for my son's Aerox when he slid it down the road last year.

Deffo FZR - my mistake!

Like the others, I have never seen that on a Fazer (or any other bike) yet.

Its probably either been repaired / repainted or one of the original owners has removed the original decals, then someone has replaced them with the wrong ones!  £25 for an original set.
If it's broken, it's not fixed.

Think I've solved it.

I had a good look through all the paperwork I got with the bike and found the original owners name and managed to get his number.
He de stickered the bike from new, so another owner must have put those on.
Thanks to all that replied,
