« on: 04 May 2012, 10:40:56 pm »
Just noticed the other day my 05' is missing the hazard and hi beam flash switches..

1. why would they be missing..?
2. is the circiutry still there, could I just buy a left hand switch gear with the aforementioned buttons and fit..?

The paperwork dosent show anything, but it could be an import from a contry that has mph I guess..? and all FZS1000's after 2004 have auto on lights.

My 2004 doesn't have hazard switch or Hi beam flasher.

I think it is one of the small differences between the 2001-2003 and the 2004-2005 Gen 1's

Weird, my 2004 models has the hazard switch.  The on/off switch for the headlamps is banked off, as you would expect.

Looking at bike trader, 2005 models all have hazard switches too.

My 05 has the red hazzard switch and a high beam "pass" flasher switch, how strange that yours has'nt.

Ditto the above, mine is an '04 and it has both. Though can't say I ever use them much, if at all!

Forgot to say mine is an import from USA, although it doesn't say it on the log book and when I do an insurance search it doesn't come up as an import either.

Ok good to see Im not the only one then, that bring us back to the wiring question.

Changing the switchgear and wiring in the flasher will be a piece of cake, but the big question is the wiring there for the hazard circuit? And for that matter how does the hazard circuit work as I have only ever known gen1 fazer to have a simple 3 pin flasher, does the hazard switch complete the left and right circuits at the same time etc...?

There are at least two different wiring diagrams, check out the Yam workshop manual or Haynes.

I bought a used left hand switch gear and the wiring had different connectors so wouldn't fit, luckily I only needed some of the parts inside the switch.

yeah that's what I'm thinking, it should be easy enough to retro fit.
