After seeing the pictures and reading up to, "I started the bike, put it in gear and let it idle." I knew what had happened.

i couldnt see the full pics but saw a youtube vid of someone cleaning his chain on the mainstand with a shoebrush while the engine was running i was just waiting for him to slip
