Does the Ivans kit decrease MPG in urban or A road riding?

mine dropped like  stone................only because i was hooning it more!
as the MJ are smaller than standard.........i'm going to say there will be a slight improvement in fuel consumption................above 7K

I don't keep that much of an eye on my MPG but from personal experience on my Ivanised Fazer there probably isn't that much difference if you keep a steady hand on the throttle. With an Ivanised bike though there is always the temptation to explore the newfound power and delivery which is most noticeable in the upper reaches of the rev range so I would guess that folks who say they have noticed a decrease in fuel economy have actually changed their riding style.

/Edit: SLG beat me to it.

What PieEater said.

SLG is also correct, although for the record, the main jets are smaller but that's because Ivan's needles are much slimmer at the tip than stock needles.

Any ways of telling an ivanised fazer without looking up its skirt?? Mine seems to go well very well, just wondered if there was any tell tale signs the previous owner hadn't commented on weather it had been done or not but the owner before him was well into them and did a lot to the bike himself

Some clues, each require a little digging into the bike but nothing difficult. :)

Most obvious are the needles.  Remove the top of #3 carb and take out the throttle slide.  Remove the needle.  If it has SD-129/SD-130 stamped around the top, it's standard.  A Dynojet needle has 8 e-clip grooves but you don't find many DJ kits fitted to Fazers.  If it's non-standard, 99% sure it will be Ivan's.

A modified airbox lid and performance air filter would indicate Full Monty Ivan's install but you'd need to check the needles to be sure.
