Chain was pissing me right off earlier, wouldn't clean off, fuckin third black rag. Thought take the front sprocket cover off and the plastic under the top of the chain, see if anything could shed light on it.

Few jobs done yesterday, Exup valve and cover bolts swapped out for lubed up stainless ones, oil and filter done as was the shock swapped out for the R6 one (thanks Luke). One thing that beat me was the plugs, nothing I had in my toolbox would fit to free them off so bought a Yam toolbox type spanner and will do it the weekend. Going to clean up the minging chain today and lube that up as got a big ride tomorrow and thursday.

Good pictures b1k3rdude, I can see exactly what you mean there, appreciate you posting them up. Glad I had a look this morning as just on my way outside to replace all mine with new stainless ones, then do an oil and filter, plugs and replace the shock with an R6 one from luke.

Cheers Robbo,
Few little jobs lined up now and got an R6 shock on the way when this here is done. Pissing down still, be sweet if my girlfriend will be alright with me working on it in our conservatory, get it sorted and we can get out on it.

Just LOVING life today Do yourself a favour and replace those 3 stubby bolts with titanium, they can be found cheap enough and it will save you a lot of stress down the road.
Appreciate that, thanks. Only just got away with not rounding off two of those you are saying about cracking them off, they were that well rusted on.

Cheers lads,
The reflectors fitted up exactly right from the 600 fazer headlight unit. Only thing different to the french reflectors is the pattern lines on the shiny side is opposite on the uk ones. I got bored with the hairdryer and remembered i lent my heat gun out and its 80 miles away so I stuck the complete unit in the oven on 130C for 5 minutes from cold and the lenses peeled off lovely with a flat bladed screwdriver, i nearly got it all back together now.
What a lovely day for a sweet fix.

Thank-you for that Mike, I have actually got a heat gun. I will dig it out now as would prefer using that more than baking it.

Hello,
so got a 2002 french import Fazer 1000 thats been Ivanized last year and a keeper (thanks mike). I can't get a new GB headlight assembly 5LV-84310-10 for love nor money. Got a spare supposedly uk headlight unit that came off a Fazer 600 off of ebay with a battered casing, 3 lugs missing, scratched lenses. Also no 5LV part number that i can see on either.
My original french headlight casing and lenses are in good nick, got all the lugs intact. The reflectors inside the battered headlight which I am hoping is a UK one have got P1191 stamped on them with a code M60+GF10. The French reflectors have got 5868 and same code M60+GF10.
I want to crack them open and rebuild the French headlightlight with the P1191 reflectors to get a UK compliant headlight.
Can anyone tell me if these P1191 reflectors are for a UK headlight ? also do I have to bake the headlight to crack the lenses off ? I have got the headlight unit off the bike no drama and am ready to go here.
Any advice welcome,
Stuart

You beauty .. !!
If it's ok for me to have em, please let me know how much you want for them + postage and I will send you it recorded with my address. Thank-you for helping me out bud, I was looking at £300+ to get this sorted if I had to get a new GB specific headlight unit.

Thanks a lot for your reply If you do have a set to sell that would be brilliant. fingers crossed. I think I have a set of reflectors somewhere, from old headlights. Any headlights I broke or come across that are broken I remove the reflectors. You can dismantle the headlight and remove the old reflectors and replace them with the correct ones. I will search for them tomorrow evening when I get home and let you know.

Had issues getting my bike through its MOT today, the MOT tester explained to me that my fazer is fitted with European headlights, which can't be adjusted to be UK compliant. The garage were well alright, tester fitted tape over the headlights lens to obscure the beams and that's got me back on the road, but was quite glad it was still light riding home...
[/size]Can anyone tell me if there is any way round this or I am I looking at finding a UK specific part ? Nothing online second hand that I can see tonight, but there is a brand new unit at £240 odd quid plus vat from a retail parts place....to be honest, I don't know where to start looking, neither am I 100% sure of what it is that I am needing.. ! Anyone got any pointers ..? I'd be grateful to you.all the best,Stu

Hi all, Sun was out yesterday so had to dust off my bike and go for the first blast of the year, so all is right with the world again As not long lived in the area, I would love to hear from anyone who can recommend a Fazer friendly mechanic in Wisbech / Kings Lynn area or even Cambs / Lincs / Norfolk that I can go to for an Ivan conversion & a 6k service on my 2002 FZ-S ? Any help much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Stuart
