Title: FZ1 chain adjusters
Post by: Mustang on 13 February 2018, 09:20:40 pm
Just swopped my back tyre on my gen 2 and the swing arm is sort of open inside, not a fully welded closed up box. The chain adjuster bolts are completely exposed to the elements behind the swing arm . My bike is
LOw miles and looks like very dry ones so they were in good nick . I've coated them up in copper grease now. Just thought I'd mention it if other gen 2 riders are bothered.

I noticed this on my 800 but to be honest it's better than boxes in ones. If boxed in one's get corroded there's nothing you can do but hope for the best.
In the past I've drilled a hole under the swing arm and got some lube in there but it's not ideal.
At least this way you can get at them to clean and lube.

Yes my fzs1000 swing arm adjusters were siezed, in fact one of them was snapped and had a nut holding the thread halves together! Fool knows how the po thought they were gonna adjust the chain tension. In the end I got another swinger cheap and still have the siezed one as an ornament in the garage.
