Post by: Curly on 25 April 2016, 06:35:48 pm
has anyone got these on a gen 1 1000 ? I was thinking of fitting these to mine but seen some people moaning about them on the net. Anyone got first hand experience of theses ?

I'm on my second rear / first front (that's not long to go either).  They are great....black....round.  Have touched my pegs down in the rain even with a jacked up rear.

The only complaint is the width.  I put an r1 wheel on for a wider looking rear and that came with a nice fat Dunlop qualifier 3.  Replaced that with a pr4 and it's a very skinny Minnie, looks like a 180 :(

Just had a quick look for some notes I made regarding mileage but can't find them.  I seem to recall getting just shy of 9k from the rear. Front will be on about 12.

I have not noticed any real difference between the pr4 and pr3 mileage or grip wise.

One thing I do notice is that they seem to wear very quick at the end.  Other tyres you keep your eye on and they get gradually less tread and you can think you have another few weeks left. The pr's I find seem "legal" one day then gone the next.

Big fan of Michelin and my brand of choice. Wear far better than any Bridgestone I have used. A recent pic of a delaminated PR4 on the net was an eye opener tho  :eek  Not sure if it was a one off or others have reported similar problems.

I've got them on mine as well. Better tyre than I can make use of anyway :)

That pic was the reason I asked and had a search on the net. It seems to be a bit of brand bashing going on due to some incidents in moto gp.

Thanks for the replys
