Digital display on FZ6 S2
« on: 29 December 2013, 12:09:51 pm »
Not sure if it is my imagination but it looks to me as if there is a slight brown/black stain appearing under the clear glass/plastic screen on my display unit on the speedio readout. Looks as if it could be starting to cook itself. There is no burning smell and it is not that big. I am curious if any one else has had this. I will try and get a photo to post and see if it is clear what I mean. I bet that unit does not come cheap but thankfully if it goes and fries itself Mr Yamaha will pickup the tab as the bike is still under warranty as it was first registered in June this year.

Difficult to tell without a picture, but I'll confirm there are no marks on my bike's instruments.
I were thinking possibly water ingress, but my bike lives outside, and gets used all year round.
I'll agree it won't be cheap, might be some in breakers yards (I think the later thou's used the same clocks), maybe a friendly TV engineer or similar is worth a bell?
I've heard of Ducati clocks suffering with water and failing - but not the Fazer.

Lew,

Don't you live in Spain? therefore could it be the sun rather than water?
