Hi,
So my search on the question did not provide me with an answer. I know that Gen1 Fazer radiator fan doesn't come on very often, not while idling on driveway anyway. But how do I check if everything is fine? Warm weather in and I'm a bit worried it may overheat if fan doesn't come on when needed. I don't think I've ever seen it come on.
I do know fan is OK as I plugged it to battery and it works. Is there a way to check if temp sensor turns it on when needed?
Thanks
Greg

What about start her up and let her run, then use a hair dryer onto radiator to speed up the process until fan cuts in.. ??
Never tried it mind, just an idea..

It's a very well known thing with the fzs 600, and after a while you will learn to forget about it. Some on here have been in mid summer heavy traffic not moving and still no fan come on. I too have had it running on the stand to flush the coolant before replacing , supposed to wait until the fan came on and got bored waiting and gave up after 10 -15 mins. Never been on in 18 years.

I took the fan off mine years ago. Even on very hot days in London traffic if the bike's moving at all it's fine. I turn the engine off when there is going to be a long delay, but tend to do that anyway to reduce pollution/save fuel.

As said the bike has a very efficient cooling system and it does take a lot to get hot enough for the fan to come on, something like 15mins of idle on a warm day. You've tested the fan and it works, have you tried 15mins or so of idle? If your that worried, you can test the thermo switch, you need to remove it and do a hot water pan test.

Thanks, I'll stop worrying then :).

Mine came on once. Scared the crap out of me :lol

Mine has come on twice in 8 years. Once in traffic having ridden to Hastings in 30 degrees plus heat and a brisk ride and straight into traffic.
The other time was a hot summers day, I was balancing my carbs. Head deep in the engine trying to find those pesky screws and VROOOOOOOOOOOOOM scared the absolute shit out of me! :rollin :rollin :rollin

mine kicked in twice yesterday while I was doing carb balance..

Something wrong with it then :rollin

My fan kicks in when I do a carb balance too, as I normally always do it on very warm days during summer.
It makes me jump sometimes :lol
