This is going to cost a few bob to put right. On the owners own admission he has had the ECU reflashed to enhance performance. So is not going anywhere fast now is it!!! Well fucked.

Bolt it back together without the broken bits and re-register it as an MT06.  :)

What a mess! I don't think it's worth it mucking about with the ECU is it? All for a few extra horsepower. Are you doing the rebuild Lew?

Not my bike thankfully, I can understand getting the ECU flashed to improve the throttle snatch that the early MT09's had. Personally I would rather spend the money on getting the crap rear suspension sorted out on the MT09.
I have more power that I can safely use on my MT09. On a decent twisty road the MT09 is just a rocket ship and a lot of so called sports bikes of similar engine size will struggle to stay with a decent pilot onboard.
On my recent trips to N Ireland and N Wales I was more than able and frequently embarassed some of the young guns on there Z1000Sx's.
Stick it in A mode and by the time the fun starts with the big litre bikes they are playing catch up. ;)
