FZS600 Fazer / Re: Simples?

If you are going to do it then do it properly connect it into the fuse box to a switched live (unless you want to use it when the ignition is off) saves any possible problems in the future. Did this on my '98 with a 3 port extention so I can power the intercom radio my ipod and still have room to charge the mobile

BT 023's for me as well came with Bridgestones when new and have stuck with them, decent wear feel planted and I have not run out of grip even with all the boxes on and the rear seat full going to the TT giving it a good fist full heading for the campsite no problems at all even if the price is a bit higher I would stick with Bridgestone IMHO  :)

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Fazer Down Pipes and how to fit new ones
« on: 06 March 2012, 07:04:20 pm »
Bought a full set of Delkevic headers, link pipe and cans the downpipes were not the right spacing for the ports one hole was about 1/2  HOLE OUT was told that they needed to be fitted with a "firm hand" I pointed out that I had tried to fit them with a firm size 11 but still no joy, I sent them back for a replacement which arrived still not quite right but fitable then the link pipe and cans which fouled on the main stand could not be bothered any more so fixed it by taking a little off the stand with a grinder. Would I buy from them again NO

Had one dog in a street near where I used to live that would always chase bikes when ever they went past had spoke to the owner about keeping the gate closed not interested in the least one time I was leaving via that street the dog came again managed to get a good connection with my foot big yelp and off it went (I was doing about 20-25 at the time) the girl caught up with me a day or so later and started to shout about what I did I reminded her of our "conversation" and suggested that if she kept the god secure this would not have happened (not in those words mind) the gate was still not being closed but strangely the dog never did chase me again  :)

FZS600 Fazer / Re: In Desperate need of help starting up!
« on: 02 March 2012, 09:17:18 pm »
easy way to test is connect another battery via jump leads (another bike bat is best) then try to start it if it works and you don't get the clicking then battery is shot. Alarms can eat batteries as can the cold if you can buy an optimate or similar and keep it plugged into the bike when not in use

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Sticky throttle
« on: 02 March 2012, 09:08:20 pm »
Try a bit of wd40 on the carbs where the cables attach if that does not work then maybe a little oil down the cable not as easy as it sound best I have found with out a cable oiler of a Plasticine mould is just to open the throttle wide then drip a little oil on it and close it slowly and opposite on the other cable but would try the carb side first

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Scrubbing in BT021 (Newbie, sorry)
« on: 02 March 2012, 09:04:10 pm »
Have had a number of the BT versions and all have been great scrubbing in just take it easy with the throttle and breaks gradually use more lean. You will see your chicken strips getting smaller and smaller and that glaze off the tread then you can give it a bit more it's worth a little bit of time to make sure the tires are sorted as for mileage never stuck to or even thought about that I just check the look of the tire and gauge it from there.
Have fun stay safe

« on: 27 February 2012, 03:35:59 pm »
IMHO it is good to give the bike a good rev every now and then, personally I make sure the bike is nice and warmed up and I never thrash it in 1st.  Get into 2nd twist and hold the throttle open, a little pressure under the gear shift when it hits the limiter it slips up a gear  :b repeat as required.
1998 FZS MK1 still going strong.  :lol

If it was for IBS get a doctors note to confirm your wife suffers from IBSand below is that bit from the road traffic act but I dont see where it says that this can be by Joe public
87 Exemption of fire brigade, ambulance and police vehicles from speed limits.E+W[F1(1)]No statutory provision imposing a speed limit on motor vehicles shall apply to any vehicle on an occasion when it is being used for [F2fire and rescue authority], ambulance or police purposes, if the observance of that provision would be likely to hinder the use of the vehicle for the purpose for which it is being used on that occasion.
[F3(2)Subsection (1) above applies in relation to a vehicle being used—
(a)for Serious Organised Crime Agency purposes, or(b)for training persons to drive vehicles for use for Serious Organised Crime Agency purposes,as it applies in relation to a vehicle being used for police purposes.(3)But (except where it is being used for training the person by whom it is being driven) subsection (1) above does not apply in relation to a vehicle by virtue of subsection (2) above unless it is being driven by a person who has been trained in driving vehicles at high speeds.]

General / Re: Time to quit?
« on: 28 December 2011, 05:52:09 pm »
Just stop.. I did, 22 years and counting, seen too many "trying" to stop with placebos, just realise what it does to your health and quit.. sorry rant over.. :evil
Very easy to say not everyone can do it that way if a placebo stops you smoking then it has to be a good thing, comments of just stop can make people feel that they are doing something wrong and stop them from trying. It is much better to give help and support where and when you can encourage them to try alternatives in ways to quit and what they use to help NRT or ENIC or what ever.
After all if you use NRT or ENIC's to stop smoking then yes you still get the nicotine but not the other 400 odd chemicals in the fags it is then easier to cut down the nicotine content so you end up "vaping" 0 mg. It will then just be down to stopping the habit rather than stopping the habit and dealing with the withdrawal from nicotine after all it is more addictive than Heroine, it is also legal and available anywhere.
If you can stop then stop if you try and fail try again, it pi$$es me off people talking about people failing rather than saying well done for trying.

Been a smoker for many years tried patches, tablets, will power etc none of which worked I have gone onto ecigs 8 weeks now and have not even been tempted to buy fags even turned one down when offered not for every one as most things in life but are working for me. I started on the ones from tesco http://www.nicolites.co.uk/products-page/ the rechargeable ones then moved onto http://www.theelectroniccigarette.co.uk/products/featured-products/microlite-cartomiser-starter-kit-2-product.html
these can be charged in their own case (does about 4 recharges before the pack needs charging) the refills (cartomisers) are one use (can be refilled but a bit messy) but for Xmas got http://www.theelectroniccigarette.co.uk/products/510-titan-tank-ecig/510-titan-tank-e-nic-brushed-steel-product.html this is a "tank" system which means you buy the e-fluid and refill them your self with little or no mess if you wanted to get some from TECC there is a discount code valid until December 31st and it is TECCXMAS gives a 25% discount.
This has / is working for me at the moment from a 30 a day habit to e-fags with no problems you can choose your  nicotine levels from 0 upwards and your flavour menthol or tobacco using the cartridges but hundreds if using the liquids.
Hope that is of some help  :rolleyes

Had mine done a while back free as the company takes the FIT (Home Sun) they say I can use any leccy generated in the day free ! so I looked at it as:-
  • They fit and maintain it for 25 years FOC
  • The unit installed will be a good quality, as they want to make as much money as they can
  • It cost me nothing (well £100 for a new leccy trip switch thing in addition to my consumer board) so anything I save by the free leccy is all good
:rolleyes

General / Re: Winter Storage - Help for a virgin storer!
« on: 24 October 2011, 03:36:27 pm »
When I stored mine (OK more then over the winter) washed it then covered it in WD40 coated the chain in lube all bolts etc covered in grease and put polish on all the paintwork but did not clean off. When it came to reviving it rubbed off the polish jet washed the grease etc off fired it up no problems did not empty the carbs or turn fuel off I did start it about every couple of months (buy buy WD40) left it run until the fan cut in waiting for it to go off then turned the bike off, it was on an optimate all the time so did not have a problem with the bat '98 FZS 600 hence the grease on bolts etc.  :\
