Help needed. Just bought a rieju rs3 50 nkd for my lad. Got it cheap cos it needs a few bits doing. Its a 2014 model with under 3k on the clock. Most of the bits are easily sorted out except one. I need a new rear brake disc, it is fitted with galfer waveys as standard and rieju want £155 for a disc :eek.
Anyone got any idea of a generic disc or supplier of that  could be used instead?
I know its 220mm diameter but not sure of bolt hole centres etc as I haven't removed it yet.
I'm not fussed if its just a plain disc, don't need owt fancy, any ideas anyone?
Thanks for reading, Neil.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / now what?
« on: 30 March 2016, 10:33:08 am »
Little help please, went out yesterday for an hour, bike going lovely after surgery on exup.
Stopped off and popped into b and poo for twenty minutes, came out, got on bike and fokked off. Called at mates house, no one in, got back on bike switched on and pressed starter, nothing.
Checked killswitch, fine, tried again, nowt.
Took helmet off removed seat and stared hopefully at assorted gubbins, checked battery connections etc, nothing wrong there.
Put key in and switched on, no sound, no fuel pump, no exup, silence. Everything else fine, lights, horn, warning lights etc.
Put bike back together, rang wife to come and get me, while waiting put key in, bike fired up straight away.
Got home parked, changed put key in, dead!
9 o'clock last night wondered into garage key in, push button, fired up.
Battery fully charged, showing 13 volts, it is permanently connected to an optimate.  Is it possible that it could still be the battery, it's getting on a bit . Tried again this morning, still dead.
Any help much appreciated folks.
Neil.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / not so bad
« on: 27 March 2016, 07:19:24 pm »
Since last autumn I have been getting the exup error code, in october I started to strip the exup to sort it out. The first bolt twisted off like it was made of chewing gum, so I did the obvious and put the cover back on with the intention of looking at it later. Today was later.
I really don't know what I was worried about, the whole job took about two and a half hours, including a break for eating my sunday dinner.
I just twisted off the remaining two bolt heads, centre punched them and drilled them out. Re tapped the holes with an M6 tap and used stainless bolts with lots of copaslip.
The valve itself was stuck solid and would not turn at all, left it to soak in my own recipe of freeing oil while I drilled and tapped the holes, half an hour later and it was free.
Lots of copaslip on reassembly and the job was done.
Broke one drill bit so not bad, the bolts were very soft.
So a job I had not been looking forward to turned out to be pretty straightforward,  worst thing was laying on the garage floor for the best part of two hours.
Thanks to everyone who has ever put a post on here about servicing the exup, I reckon I've read them all over the last couple of days.
Cheers, Neil.

Don't know if this is of interest to any one, it was linked on another forum I belong to and I found it very interesting.
I have tried to insert a link but am struggling on my phone, but if you search on youtube for 'Viktor Orbans speech' it is a breath of fresh air.
Cheers all, Neil.

Sorry, failed on link, any chance of some mod help? :'(

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / power, but not turning over.
« on: 18 February 2015, 11:02:45 am »
Got a bit of a strange one, Y reg thou, spent most of last 3 months tucked up in the garage. Wheeled it out today to access some of the other junk we store in the garage, thought "may as well fire up the bike while it's out". Key in ignition, fuel pump, exup etc whirry noises, push starter button and .............nowt!
First things I checked, kill switch in on position, check.
It does have an immobiliser fitted should I suspect this or am I just being a div and overlooking summats obvious?
Any suggestions greatly received chaps, thanks, Neil.

General / MT-5

Hi chaps, quick question for you. I don't really expect to get an answer to this but it's worth trying :D
I have just bought a 1990 Honda MT-5 for my daughter when she turns 16 in February. What I am after is some information or advice about wheels/tyres. Does anyone happen to know if there is a road type tyre available in the fitments for this bike or are there any other wheels that are a swap so that road tyres can be used?
I have done a swift google search but not turned anything obvious up.
Tyre sizes are front: 2.70x19  rear: 3.00x16
Thanks in advance guys, Neil

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / short levers
« on: 02 November 2013, 02:42:11 pm »
Hi guys.
Has anyone had any experience of these 'cnc machined short brake and clutch levers'?
I have looked at other peoples and spoken to owners of machines fitted with these and most people seem pretty happy with them. I also asked where folks got them from and some were bought from UK suppliers and some from China, Hong Kong etc, but in the flesh they are all identical. Anyway I went ahead and ordered a set from China. Very happy with the quality, and the brake lever was a straight swap, however the clutch lever is another story. It went on ok but the cable was not running in a straight line, it was necessary to shim the pivot point by about 12mm and machine some alloy off the lever to make everything line up. The only real problem now is that the microswitch that prevents starting the engine without pulling in the clutch is not in use, you can start the engine with the clutch out and in gear.
Not too bothered as they were under £20 inc postage, I have looked at pazzo and ASV levers and they also don't appear to operate the microswitch.

TL/DR short story how have others gone about fitting these levers, and are you happy with them?

General / custom ear plugs
« on: 11 October 2013, 05:35:00 pm »
Dunno if this has been done before but here goes anyway.
I find the little foam earplugs uncomfortable after a time and fancied some of those custom fitted jobs. How f*%$ing much? Right, what about diy ones? Little kit, enough to make one pair, about a tenner. What if I balls it up? Did some research and bought some silicone putty from eblag. Got enought to make a set for me and a set for both my son and daughter, and I have enough left to make two or three more pairs. The cost of this, about £6! Bargain. For the record they are the most comfortable ear plugs I have ever had.
Took about 5 minutes and was a piece of cake to do. Highly recommended.
Cheers all, Neil

Little help here guys please.
I am looking for a bluetooth intercom system for rider/pillion and rider/rider comms. Are any of you using these? If so which are you finding best and more importantly which ones should I avoid?
Thanks, Neil

« on: 01 October 2013, 06:26:19 pm »
Evening all, being new on here I thought I would ask, is there a map of some sort that shows other members approximate locations?
If not do we have any members in the North east Lincolnshire area, more specifically Grimsby, Cleethorpes and surrounding area? No particular reason for asking just curious as to whether anyone is anywhere near me.
Cheers, Neil.
