In the season of squashed flies, what are we all using to move the buggers off our visors....especially whilst out and about?

General / Suggestions Please« on: 26 April 2014, 01:46:26 pm »
Gents...
I have a Micron can on my bike and have found one of the wire lugs that the retaining spring hooks into has nearly worn through. I have new springs to go on but fear they will now cut through the metal eye. How can I strengthen it? 53

Just renewed a car policy and insurers have asked for a photocopy or scan of all our driving licences....never been asked that before and not sure for security reasons if I should supply them. Views?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Spark Plug Caps« on: 12 January 2014, 06:35:00 pm »
Who's doing what with spark plug caps? I'm thinking of putting the NGK straight caps on (no problems, just precautionary maintenance) but what happens to the OE circular seals? I assume they serve a purpose but are integral to the stock caps. I wonder if they could be modded to fit over the leads above the new plug caps??

General / BENNETTS TW4TS« on: 04 December 2013, 06:26:35 pm »
Bennetts have just refused my cashback on the bike policy. No justifiable reason so in my view they are a complete set of tw4ts. At least the internet is here to let others know about their antics. Yes I know that cashback is never guaranteed but when it is declined for untrue reasons it generates a moan like this....TW4TS
Rant over...have a nice day everyone. 62

Can someone assist please?....whenever there is a link to video footage on these threads I cant see them. I can see the screen in the post but if I click on to watch it just goes blank, although I can hear it and the bar progresses to show it is playing.. I can watch the videos direct on youtube.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / cold starting« on: 23 September 2013, 10:07:27 pm »
The last two times I have started the bike from cold it's taken many attempts to catch. (I don't use choke)
I'm not sure if this is a problem or not yet and will see how the next few go. bike has a new battery with loads of umph so not that. What would you set about checking? Its not ivanised (that I know of). When it does fire its very lumpy until I can gradually increase revs. When its warm it runs fine so I don't think its a carb balance problem. It also starts straight away when warm. This isn't a major issue yet but looking for suggestions to investigate. I realise all stock fazers can be a little tricky to start but the last couple have seemed worse. 65

General / fitting braided hoses« on: 08 August 2013, 05:49:18 pm »
I've been fitting braided hoses to the bike yesterday and the instructions suggested 12-24lb.ft torque for the banjos (stainless). The manual says 30Nm which isn't vastly different. what I did find and I recall the same when I fitted to my old xt600 that I had to go beyond that torque to get a seal. Have others found the same?

General / Here's an idea to think about?????« on: 25 July 2013, 08:50:40 pm »
How about a game of pass the parcel? Just an idea that may gain some momentum if anyone is interested....how about we make a mascot and pass it round the country? Rule would be you collect from one foccer and pass to another foccer, that way we meet a few fellow foccers....no timescale necessary so we can deliver on good days to avoid the rain!
Maybe some clever foccer can track it on a map? Anyone interested on developing the idea.....we could even ad some pics as the mascot travels around? D 71
Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Valve Clearance Check« on: 19 June 2013, 11:23:09 am »
I want to do a valve clearance check....something I have never done before. (Bike now done 26k miles).
I have looked at the service manual and want to have a go myself but just wonder about a couple of things. Is access easy enough? The AIS is removed. Will I need new gaskets? How long should it take me?....Oh, that's three things! Anything else for a 'first timer'? Thanks D 72
