The picture might be easier to understand the right way round. I can see a pink line where water has travelled but it seems to stop halfway up and no obvious place it is coming from. Thanks

I have a very small water leak on my Gen1. The leak shows on the seam of the engine casing below the carburettors on the left hand side.  It is not obvious where it is leaking from. Has anybody else had this issue?

Why don't you finish it and sell it as a complete bike?

There is an additive we put into the tank of our diesel narrow boat. It grabs hold of moisture molecules and they are removed during combustion. I wonder if it is worth thinking of something like this for the bike? For me, the biggest concern is the degradation of the rubber items within the carbs.

Does anybody have any concerns with using the new fuels? I understand the Fazer Gen 1 will run on E10?

If it was me I’d give EBC technical a ring and talk it through with them. If the noise wasn’t there before the brake upgrade then it must be the upgrade that’s caused it.
I’ve had a ringing sound when the brakes are applied after fitting new wavy discs. It drove me mad so I put OEM back on and no noise!!

Maybe they sent you a generic form? I'm sure some riders upgrade their engines and they would receive the same form.

I used Kriega bags on my ZX10R. I found them brilliant, held a lot of weight, wrapped up properly, they held a lot of stuff and easy to move about off the bike. Anything that stays on at 160mph on the autobahn is a great product in my eyes :eek

Does anybody have a preferred screen colour which can be seen in bright sunlight. I am using white background and black numerals at the moment.

I have the TFT dash and have been a bit of a guinea pig but every time I had an issue it was resolved very quickly and I think the dash has evolved as a result. I did have some issues with the TPMS system and the dash and sensors were sent back to Danny. His response was as follows and you may have the same issue:

Just a quick update on the TPMS investigation...It turns out the protocol the kit uses is still the same, however what's changed are the Sensor IDs. In the previous TPMS kit, they were coded from 1 to 4 consistently. In the latest kit they are now coded from 0 to 3. The TFT Dash looks for sensors 2 and 4 ( LR and LF), although with your latest kit, sensor 4 wouldn't exist, and Sensor 2 is the incorrect sensor to use so that would explain why you've only seen one reading. In the next software update I will introduce a way to set the sensor IDs for the TPMS. This also means you'll be able to make use of all 4 sensors in the kit (just in case something happens to the first 2).

I hope the above is helpful. If all else fails contact Danny.

I've uploaded the update and the Nav App. As usual, great bit of kit. Looking forward to using the extra function. Whats next Danny?

I have written again to TfL and they have confirmed my bike is exempt and they will update the database in due course. I received my original letter in June 2019 so is has taken some time for them to start updating!!!!

For Sale & Wanted / Re: For Sale - R6 Forks to fit Gen 1
« on: 15 December 2020, 05:56:48 pm »

For some reason the font has gone wrong in my original message above. This is what the message is supposed to read:I have a pair of forks which were off the second version of the R6 (2003-2005 5SL model) although it gained bling gold USD forks in 2005.  They were on my Gen 1 for about 9 months until I upgraded to R1 units. They certainly perform better than standard forks. One of the forks has a leaking oil seal so you'd be looking at Right-Way-Up fork seals for the 5SL model made during 2003-2004. These are about £25 per pair. There are some marks on the chrome tubes where they have been clamped in the headstock. I think they are worth £150 plus postage. Anybody interested?

My Gen1 was accepted after I sent in a certificate of conformity. I have just checked on the TfL website and it is showing as LEZ compliant but not ULEZ!! It took ages jumping through hoops. They really are a bunch of wankers. I suppose I'll have to get in touch with them again and do it all again.

Thanks both. Yes, Gen 1 Fazer. I've noted what you have both suggested, I'll try a Seal Mate first because if it works it is a much easier resolution, particularly as the bike is fairly low mileage. They look like the original seals. Only one side is leaking so if the Seal Mate does work, lets hope I've not lost too much fluid from the leaking leg and it upsets the balance of the bike.
