Ktech or Kais Fork upgrade Gen 1?
« on: 27 January 2012, 01:31:15 pm »
 Hi Forum,
In a bit of a conundrum which way to go now I have decided to keep the old girl.
Want to stop the Eurofighter fork dive on standard springs but don’t need razor race performance handling.
Got an Ohlins rear shock mainly to use stronger springs for 95% two up riding for the combined weight.
Ktech want £495 for their magic & Kais want £250 for the Ohlins upgrade.
Just wondering if anyone has had either fitted & what where your experience’s?
oops, should have read the last thread anyway, one must better than the other in some way!!!

Not heard of Kais so cant say how good/bad they are. but that price i would lay money on is for a ohlins spring and a basic service.
The K-Tec price is much higher because they not only replace the spring and service but work over the damping aswell.

Lots of info on what they do floating around the forum so no point me going in to details that i wouldnt know without searching anyway lol

It realy comes down to how deep your pockets are and what you want from it. i was flush at the time so went with a full Ktec work over of the forks and loved it. much better for me.
Just changing the spring and a service would also be a fair improvement, but not as much as something like the ktec.... (i say ktec as its what i had done.)

when i used KAIS i found them to be money grabbing shysters who did a p!sspoor job and made it fairly obvious that were subbing work out and not
a)able to maintain quality control
b)actually inspect the work when returned

yes they've been going for yonks, but that was my experience of them. people have had bad experiences with maxton etc.
The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people's money!

I have used both, Kais for my VTR1000 and KTech for my Gen 1. Both gave good results, just ask what is included and you should be able to see why there is a price difference and also work out what you need for your riding.
