General / South East Foccers...
« on: 05 July 2014, 06:54:53 pm »

Hi all... not intended as a replacement for any manufacturer specific forum, but it's been quite difficult recently to pull together rideouts from across different forums and social media.

So I've decided to create a Facebook group and Google+ community to try and get a bit more activity here in the South East.

The group is named RIKAS (Riders in Kent and Sussex) and it's open to all, although my preference is for members to at least be in, near or around the SE.

I am posting this same message on Forums I have previously used on a regular basis, namely Z1000 Owners Club, Triumph Tiger Owners Club, Honda CB1000R Owners Club and also Fazer Owners Club so there is a really cross section there.  Those that know me will be aware I love a deal so once we are established I'll see if I can negotiate so discounts for us ;)

You can join the groups on either of the following links:-

RIKAS on FACEBOOK

RIKAS on GOOGLE+

Hi all...

Just about every biker has heard of Bikesafe... sadly not many have done a course... which stuns me considering it's low cost and many benefits...

I did one a few weeks ago (my second having done one a exactly.... ten years, to the day!! before).

For those that don't know, it's a very laid back day, involving a very informal class room session and then a series of assessed rides with some of the Met's finest riders.  Oh and a Frankie and Bennys Meal thrown in (that's got to be worth between £5-10 quid alone)... plus the usual freebies (the V sponge is very useful).

I've been in contact with Andy who is one of the Police Officers on the team, the usual price is £45 but he will provide you with a £10 discount code if you email him (just mention "Dan" and Triumph Tiger owners club).  It's a great day and I had lots of fun.... £35 quid has got to be one seriously good investment in your life and you may even save on your insurance premiums.

If you'd like a discount code please email Andy - andrew.bevis@met.police.uk

The Bikesafe London website is HERE and you can book online if you wish.

Ah yes of course... Urbanswine.... is he still on here?

Andy... when you weren't between girl you were getting trapped under barriers.... I still remember your little Dartford crossing incident lol

Yeah it was a good day... the price has increased but the format is fairly similar.... the routes taken were excellent, we had a meal in Frankie and Bennies which was OK.

If you (or Alan) want to do another one let me know... I may be able to get you a half price day (need to double check that though)... I'm thinking of doing a rideout over the coming weeks (might be mid-week though)... if you/Alan/Foccer far and wide are interested then let me know.

Did a Bikesafe today... the first since our 2003 one.... so looked at the picture and was amazed to see it was on exactly the same day.... a complete coincidence.

Hello Al... still remember you just....

I'm OK thanks... not filling up so much these days as I have a Triumph Tiger 800XC now... before that I did have a Honda CB1000R which was a bit thirsty.... how about you.

Only other Foccer in the pic I can name is Andy (Locksmith) with red/black leathers.....seems such a long time ago.... good times (arguably better times).

Looks great to me.... only things I would change would be the screen in favour of a smoked one and also the grab rails which I think would look better in white....

Great job though and deserving of 3-3500K in my opinion.

Been through the garage and found a few FZ1 bits that some of you might be interested.... they may also be appropriate for the FZ8 as well as other Yam's but I can't be certain.

All offers considered but please remember p&p will be extra (but not very costly).  Any offers then please reply here

First up some used Oberon Touring Footpegs in Silver/Titanium... obviously some wear but these still look great (much better that the original rubber ugly ones.  Brand new from OEM (Oberon) they are about £45 I believe... see here http://www.oberon-performance.com/acatalog/Yamaha_Touring_Foot_Pegs.html

Here they are on my old FZ1 (isn't she a black beauty!!) :)

Next up are front and rear axle protection bobbins... again you can see them in my bike pic above... I always thought they looked pretty good and help keep any exhaust away from the ground if the worst happens...

Finally an Evotech Petrol filler camera mount.... it's brand new and I've never used it.  I have no idea how much this is new as I got it off a fellow Foccer a few years ago.

Hi all.... in the end I brought a second hand Triumph Tiger 800XC.... totally different riding experience but great fun! :)

13
Is there any talk of a new Fazer Thou yet?.... but surely be due now (the Gen2 has been out since 2006)

14
Not tried one yet... need to sell my CB1000R first... it is in MCN now though..

Thanks for the reply folks, much appreciated.... the thing that puts me off is the tank size and range.  At the moment the Suzuki Vstrom is top of my shopping list but I will look at a FZ8 as well.

Fazer8 / FZ8 / Returning to the fold.... (Considering a Fazer 800)
« on: 12 March 2013, 10:02:35 pm »
Hi all...

Blimey the forum has changed again.... go for a year or two and everything changes....

As some of you know I've been around for about 11 years... initially as a Hornet owning wannabe Foccer and then later I had a 2007 FZ1-N (great bike).

I now have a 2009 CB1000R but want something with a bit of wind protection for motorway use and a bit of european touring this year.

Now I know all about the FZ1 and found it super powerful but also very revvy, alot of the power was lost until you go in the higher revs.  How does the Fazer 800 compare engine wise? I'm also about 6' tall, is the screen very effective on motorways.

Any moans, groans or issues, I've not really followed the Fazer 8 so I have no idea how it stands up against the competition.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestion.... don't think I was every a huge poster here to be honest.... be interesting to read my first few posts though from way way way back.... when I thought Fazers were ugly and slow ;)

......See a good condition Mk1 Fazer (especially the gold version) and they look fantastic!! :)

Btw I had a Gen2 FZ1-N... was an awesome, powerful bike.... I still think the CB1000R is a better all round street bike though, the Gen1 Fazer Thou remains one of the best ever tourers I think.

Bit late I know, but if it's still relevant I am in contact still with Kim (Hawnet) who used to lead many of the Hornets Nest Fish and Chip/Freezing Finger runs through Essex....

Want there a Devils hill or something... really steep short hill then into a sharp right bend?

...when did all this change then...  :)

Hi all... Dan here... BusterDAN (ex-Hornets Nest) and now Dan (Honda CB1000R.COM) for those that know or remember.

Just though I'd pop in and say hi (I've been checking in for 10 years now, despite only actually owning a Fazer for two of those years).  I trust you are all well and congrats for finally dumping EZboard/Yuku..... this is so much better!
