Pointer. My eldest son passed his test recently and when we go out he does exactly as you have described. I put it down to him following me as he thinks I have picked the right line.

What bike have you got? You profile says the 00-01 model FZS but I cannot recall if that has a clock or not. My 99 model didnt and as such, when you turned the key off (no alarm) nothing drained the battery so the bike stated fine after a couple of months.

If yours has a clock, disconnect the battery.

I think you'll find it doesn't matter who was there first,,,,she is entitled to
her sleep.

Just like the people that buy a house under the local airport flightpath who got their house cheap becasue of the noise then complain about the noise to get nightflights stopped :pokefun

Businesses have to operate. Things like Freshbread, newspapers and milk need to be deleivered at silly oclock because people would not like it if they go to the shop at 7am and find theses items havent been delivered.
Best bet is to ask the shop to ask the delievry drivers to try to keep the noise down. It may be that the noise is minimal already but she is a ver light sleeper and has the window open. We dont know.

Who was there first? The deliveries or her?

It's not right to complain if the deliveries started before she moved in. She could ask if they can keep the noise down a bit.

I take it as the caller you hear it ring once and then nothing

If it does ring properly (for the caller) with no phone then it will still be the master socket. It is probably the capacitor that has failed.
If it rings once then stops as it does with the phone plugged in it could be the master socket or a line issue.

Either way, prove it to yourself and then when the engineer finally does turn up and blames the handset you can tell them "what has the handset got to do with it when it isnt even plugged in?"

Tori, the line will still ring and the caller will still think there is a ringing phone plugged in.

:agree

The master socket belongs to BT or whoever. If the phone can make outgoing calls then the line is probably OK but with a known working phone in the socket it doesnt ring then the problem is likely to be the master socket.

Out of interest, if you have no phones or extensions plugged in do you get the same issue?

If so, it is definitely a master socket issue as from a callers perspective it makes no difference if there is a phone plugged in or not, they will just get a ring tone.

Time to replace the printer. 10 years is a couple of lifetimes in IT.

I dont know that specific printer but usually with printers, things sticking is down to something either being out of alignment or dirty. Take it apart and give it a damn good clean and check teh paths for the ribon and lables for anything slightly protruding into the path.

The ABI said an 18-year-old was more than three times as likely as a
48-year-old to  be involved in a crash

If they are only 3x more likely to have an accident, why do they pay 10x (or more) the insurance premium???
