Title: Clocks reset when ignition is switched off
Post by: Omigod on 12 April 2019, 10:40:58 pm
I've been told there is a fix on here for this but can't see it.
Everytime I turn the ignition on the time clock says 1:00 and the trip is 0.0 they then start counting again only to be lost when ignition is turned off and on again.
It's a 2001 fzs1000

Anyone know the fix please?

Dodgy battery/connection possibly.

Also check the back up fuse and the block connectors under the left panel for corrosion.

Thanks guys.  Battery connections look OK.  Will check under panel.

Sods law
having eventually changed the battery last year (not for the resetting issue but because it stopped holding charge)
I haven't had it reset or not turnover and need a bump start until today.  I rode it 25 miles parked up for an hr or 2  come back switched on no lights (neutral) and on pressing the start button I just got the clicking of starter solenoid.

Had to bump it  and now back to normal  :(

Like to say thanks to Unfazed.  Checked the back-up fuse and power to both sides.  Checked the connector block under left infil panel and no power there. So rigged up a bridging wire from far side of fuse to connector block and all working.  Will leave it like this for a week or so then, if all still OK will cut the original wire to avoid any shorting that may be going on in the loom under the tank.  Thanks to Midden also for your input.
