General / Re: Bennetts Renewal Breath of Fresh Air« on: 21 October 2017, 09:34:27 am »The important thing to say is to "let your current policy lapse". I'll bear that in mind next time...though it won't be Bennetts that I'll be talking to.... Spoke to them this morning and they're "putting it on hold pending investigation". Yeah right. 3
General / Re: Bennetts Renewal Breath of Fresh Air« on: 20 October 2017, 10:16:13 pm »
Not impressed with Bennetts. Second year with them and the renewal for my Blackbird came through two weeks ago and it had gone up by nearly a ton with no change in circumstances.
Phoned up and cancelled the renewal (there's no way of doing it online). A few days later I get a letter saying that they can't take any money bcause the direct debit has been cancelled. I point out that I cancelled the renewal and they said "ignore the letter". Today I come home to a letter saying that I have an outstanding balance of £31.54 for a "cancellation fee" and for something called a "Time on cover charge". I suspect the dopey bastids have cancelled what remains of the policy instead of cancelling the renewal. Unfortunately they knock off early on a Friday so they'll be getting a bit of a tetchy call in the morning. 4
General / Re: POLL: Whats the average age of Fazer Owners ?« on: 20 October 2017, 10:05:02 pm »Mmm, it seems that the average age, so far, is a little on the high side. Don't think of it as being high. Think of it as being experienced. 5

Some very nice metal in there. Shame about the fuggly red Beemer scooter, though.

Just scraped into the not quite old duffer class... I too bought my Fazer after fairly major neck/spinal surgery. The Blackbird and Ducati 750SS that I've also got are just nowhere near as easy on the back and neck. 7

Always enjoyed going to this museum, even though has a bias towards 4 wheels. It's got even better since it was revamped a while back.
Is the red room still there..? 8
General / Re: Screen replacement« on: 17 October 2017, 07:54:01 pm »Long time ago, but think mine's MRA. They're all basically the same shape, so your might want to look at Pyramid, Skidmarx etc. Make sure you order the 02/03 not the 98/01. 9

General / Re: Screen replacement« on: 16 October 2017, 11:37:28 am »don't know about screens but.............. "I are a numpty" Well, I now know who the forum pedant is..! The "I are a numpty" was to emphasise that I was being , y"know... A numpty. It's not meant to be indicative of my level of English grammar. A bit like "can I has Cheezburger". (You'll have to Google it.... It would take too long to explain) . Anyway, thanks for welcoming me aboard. Where do you keep the life vests.? 12
General / Screen replacement« on: 13 October 2017, 08:12:10 pm »
OK, I know this will have been asked before and I really should do a a search on the forum, but as I'm a noob I know you Foccers will cut me some slack...
What taller replacement screens do you rate for an 03 Fazer...? Rider is 5' 6" and has a dodgy neck. Yes...I know I posted it in the wrong section. I are a numpty. 13

People who wear nothing but sports gear but clearly couldn't run to a puddle if you set fire to them.

I feel as if somehow I have been empowered and and also educated, it's all to do with understanding the principles at play in the colour senario. Not sure what you'd be if you were "firm and consequential", but I think you'd be in trouble. 15
General / Re: What else do you own/ride« on: 13 October 2017, 08:00:27 pm »
Blackbird for long distance stuff, Fazer for short hop/commuting, Ducati 750SS to remind me that power isn't everything when you want to have fun on a bike.

Introduction / Re: New owner...almost.« on: 12 October 2017, 04:39:45 pm »"Biffer"....? I could be wrong but (bearing in mind I'm a Jock) isn't that a cricket term...? If you're based in Portsmouth then we're neighbours as I'm up the road in Havant. I used to live in Soton and for 6 years I commuted to Havant all year on a Thundercat. Eventually I did the obvious thing and moved to where I worked and then promptly got made redundant...the bastids. No offence to Tommy (well maybe a wee bit) but when it comes to vehicles I think of silver as being the colour of choice for Beemer riders and the infirm/incontinent. The Blackbird is blue (Bluebird..?) so I got that wrong and I've got an old Ducati 750SS in red (the only colour) so I got that right. I suspect a red Fazer would look best with black or white speedblocks, but I'll probably limit it to a couple of stickers. I'll have to post a pic of mine when I get a mo. There's no graphics on it all so I'm feeling a bit deprived. 18

Feck me.....a reply....!
It's a red one. Which one is the fastest colour...or don't you Foccers get hung up on that sort of thing...? I see you're another Honda man.... I did think about the CBF but figured the thou would be a bit much as a commuter (I don't usually do much motorway commuting). After looking at Hornet 6's, CB5's, ER5's, ER6's, Bandit 6's, XJ6's, etc. it came down to the CBF6, XJ6 or the Fizzer. 19

Gotta say...you lot are a bit polite with newbies compared to the Blackbird forum....
By now they'd have asked: What colour (black or nothing for some - the hint's in the name - BLACKbird) Carb or FI model (carb is faster, more powerful, will get you laid, blah, blah.) Who/where did you buy it from (half the bikes are bought from other forum owners. Some are bought back...) How many miles (big bike which can handle HUGE miles) All year round or fair weather (amazing the number of owners who commute on theirs throughout the year. Hence the big miles on many) What mods are fitted (Like most bikes, there's an "approved" list that add to the value and show that the previous owner was a good'un - i.e. another forum member) Does yer missus have big tits (Male Bird owners have a fascination with the size of wimmin's chests) What bike meets do you go to (they're a fairly sociable bunch and Bird owners will stop and chat to other Bird owners...the conversation will be exclusively about Birds and who they know who rides one) What car do you drive (yep, we talk cars on a bike forum...) Do you want to sell it (Birds get sold to other forum owners pretty often. Many peeps on the forum own more than one. No idea why...one's plenty) Do you want to buy another one (see above) Do you do your own servicing (the collective knowledge on the forum is massive and the general consensus from the old guard is to steer clear of Honda dealers) Married or divorced (there's very few singlies on the forum. Most couples tour, those that don't divorce) Accident history (doesn't everyone like to compare scars..?) What ops/illnesses have you had/got (most Bird owners are of a certain age. Also see above for accident history) Where are you going for your hols (in other words, where are you planning to tour this year..?) Are you taking the bike (hard though it is to believe, some folks go away and don't take the Bird. Again, it's an age thing for many) 20

Picked it up today and well chuffed with it. Nice neutral riding position and an easy engine to live with.
Previous owner(s) has obviously looked after it and kept it entirely standard apart from some sensible mods = belly pan, fender extender, hugger, heated grips and a rack. Only 29k on the clock and the suspension seems to be in fine fettle judging by the lack of chicken strips and even tyre wear. Only mod planned for now is a span adjustable clutch lever....and possibly a double bubble. 21

Hi Y'all. Just put a deposit down on totally stock, nice and clean Red '03 Fazer. Picking it up next week some time. Can't wait.
Owned a 'Cat years ago so I know the engine's a good'un....and the Fazer's ride position suits my shortarse frame nicely. I'm normally found on a Blackbird (Yep, one of them Honda fings ) but I decided to buy the Fazer as I wanted something a bit more "real world" for the commute and everyday and all year round riding. Plus I broke my back/neck a while back and these days lifesavers on the 'Bird are literally a pain in the neck..!
