Title: Multi-Gauge
Post by: teecee90 on 06 August 2016, 08:31:17 am
Hi

I've ordered one of the multi gauges to replace the fuel gauge. Has anyone who has fitted the gauge used the speedo healer function just to get a more accurate speedo reading with standard gearing? If so, how did you set it up please?

Christian, the guy who makes these, will be able to tell you how to do that. :)

I imagine you would need to compare speedo with a GPS-derived speed to find the initial variation, which will almost certainly be speedo over-reading, then enter a speedo adjustment factor to bring the two closer together.  Might need a bit of trial and error.

Also pats site has a good right up on it, although I think it's more if you change the sprocket size. There's a good insulation guide

Pat's Site has explanations on how to use the Yellow Box recalibrator and the Speedohealer recalibrator, plus instructions on how to fit a Multigauge.

I had a quick look and couldn't see instructions in the Multigauge bit covering settings for the speedo correction function in that unit.  I might be wrong, though. :)

It's down the bottom of the insulation guide mike, under speedometer correction, ☺

Don't ask me how I know, but the satnav registered 137mph when the speedo was touching 150, so it seems quite a way out. Not sure how typical that is.

This is the link to the English summary of Christian's web page.

My experience is that most vehicles on the road today have speed readings that are overstating reality by as much as 10%. So your GPS measurement of 137 compared to your speedo's 150 is about right.
(perhaps this also has something to do with the 'margin' that the traffic dept allows you before the speed camera takes your pic ... but that's a different topic all together ...)

BTW,  I have the multiguage fitted in mine (lucky enough to come with the bike) ... Fantastic piece of kit !!!
Having read through the installation instructions & the operating instructions, I reckon it should be quite easy to adjust for the correct speedo reading. The difficult bit (actually not 'difficult', just labour intensive) will be to solder the wires in the correct places ... but its all well detailed in the docs.

I set the speedo healer function to 95% and it's now pretty much spot-on compared to the satnav.

I am also thinking of buying one, in the future so would be handy to know too. I am no good with a solder.

Your local computer shop should be able to do it for you.
