That would be fantastic :)

The Red is for the darker of the two variations

Here?....

http://www.fazerspares.com/items/129-1_3363-fuel-tank-used-red.htm

Id actually been to visit this guy and he doesnt actually have any - only has one in stock in black apparently.

As for the two shades of Red, I had noticed this when looking around for bikes. Mine is the darker burgundy colour which I absolutely love so having the lighter colour tank wouldnt really be an option.

Thanks for the advice though guys, I assume the £95 for the above ad is fairly typical?

For Sale & Wanted / WANTED - Fuel Tank in RED for 1999 FZS 600

As noted in title - existing one leaks if you put in more than half a tank of fuel :(

Willing to collect (im in Bristol) or even exchange (though I doubt anyone wants a broken tank)

First car was a Peugeot 106 (1996) 1.5 Diesel in Red - it had no power what so ever but the mileage was great! Sold now and was replaced with a Volkswagen Golf Mark II (1991) 1.8 GTI (8v) in Oak Green

Hi all, does anyone have any advice on getting hold of a Fuel Tank for a '99 Fazer in Red? Or better yet, does anyone have one they wouldnt mind selling?

Cheers

« on: 19 October 2011, 04:41:38 pm »
Just spent most of the day trying to do the headlight upgrade and after routing cables, soldering and generally making a fool of myself I've somehow managed to get it working ish - the offside lamp now comes on for dipped beam but the nearside one won't turn in at all. Someone help, it makes no sense and I'm sure the bulb still works  :'(

Edit: Ok turns out I was possibly being crazy, its all working now (properly) thank god  :D

Definately standard gearing , am I the only one then who forgets if hes in top or not and have to look at the tacho and speedo, 5k on the tacho is 60 mph and say, 6k on the tacho is 70 mph in top gear.  One of these days I'll end up in a ditch.

Im exactly the same, always end up forgetting which gear im in - end up just clicking up until I cant anymore :p

Back on topic though, im going to see if I can get round to attempting to wire in both headlights on mine. Hopefully today though if not perhaps sometime this week :)

Not sure if they would be identical but I would have thought they would be ok. The 01/02 models were just a slightly varied fairing werent they? Shouldnt change until the 2004+ models

(Dont take anything say as golden :P)

Edit: topgun44 got their before me

FZS600 Fazer / Exhaust Can
« on: 18 October 2011, 04:39:35 pm »
Hi all,

Im interested in potentially changing the end can (silencer) on my '99 Fazer purely for a more impressive sound - the stock can, as most if not all of you are aware is pretty weak in terms of noise. I was hoping to get something with more bass and growl but have literally no idea where to start. Seems like a fair bit of information around in regards to the different manufacturers but its hard to gauge the exact noise from random YouTube videos.

Has anyone had any good experiences? Any advice? Also if anyone has had their end can replaced, how much did it cost?

Cheers

I ended up looking the service history I have for the bike and it looks like it hasn't had a new chain and sprockets since 2006 so I figured that was a good enough reason to have them replaced - booked in on monday with Morpheus in Bristol :)

Edit: Just as a final update, the new chain and sprockets have solved the knocking and the bike feels a lot nicer though I did get caught in a rain storm :p

70MPH was basically 5900RPM for me - didnt get round to checking out the teeth on the sprockets though im afraid but have no reason to suspect they arent default

I think mine may have lower gearing based on what you guys have said - 70MPH for me is at least 6,000RPM

Im heading out today so i'll check back. I have to do some work on the chain / sprockets anyways (see my other thread) so i'll check the teeth numbers then :)

I'll more than likely check the front sprocket tonight though im not entirely certain what im checking for (again, newbie at bike mechanics atm ;))

As far as spare parts are concerned I always seem to have some left over or some missing :P Already today ive lost a bolt for my car which has resulted in the complete inability to open the boot anymore :(

Thanks for the information, just need to get round to actually doing it now. I like doing my own mechanics but this could be interesting - how much of a complex job is it / many specialist tools required?

FZS600 Fazer / Knocking
« on: 13 October 2011, 10:02:37 am »
Hi there all - im very new to the world of motorcycling so forgive dumb questions ;)

Ive had my Fazer for about 2-3 weeks now (1st bike ever, passed my test about a week before I got the bike) and ive noticed a sort of knocking on the bike - it happens when pulling away slowly in 1st/2nd then when cruising in the other gears around 30-45mph. I can mostly feel it when cruising, as opposed to hearing it, on the left side foot peg (gear / chain side)

It seems to go away if I pull in the clutch or back off on the power and assume that I just dont notice it at higher speeds due to wind noise and that the chain/wheel is actually moving faster (kinda obvious :P)

I did check the chain tension and it seemed a little slack so tightened it (all based on the manual) but the problem still exists (if it is in fact a problem). It seems out of place but I dont know if this is in fact normal operation due to my limited experience.

I did notice a topic on here from someone else who had a similar problem and which ended up being fixed by replacing the chain and sprocket but im uncertain if this the exact same fault or if it could be something else. Plus any advice on mechanics in the Bristol area would be handy :)

Thanks for any replies
