General / Sorted now, cheers Locksmith!
« on: 22 August 2012, 07:08:18 pm »
Evening folks, just wondering if any of you lovely types could pick up a pair of DRZ400 wheels I won on ebay and ship them up here to Jockland?

They're in Chatham but the dude went collection only, preferably by Sunday.

I've a "maybe" from a mate over Oxford way, but if any of you fine fellows could do it it'd save her a huge trek.
 :D

I'll happily cover fuel/food/hookers and sort out the courier too.

Cheers in advance.

General / Just bought a wee DRZ400
« on: 13 August 2012, 10:28:57 pm »
One of those Ebay "I'll stick a cheeky offer in, you never know" type affairs, boom, now the owner of a 2000 DRZ400 SY.

Only slight issues was it was in London, so flight booked yesterday at half twelve, flew down at half two and met the dude at the airport, bike mine by half five.
:D

After bungeeing the original exhaust system, my backpack, laptop and spare gubbins to the back off I popped up the road.

Was great fun zipping through London, which I seemed to spend a fair bit of time doing...
 :o

Found the A1, bimbled along at a pleasant 70+ and all was good with the world.
Until just outside Derby when she decided that she was spitting her dummy out and anymore than a 1/3rd throttle was gonna result in no fuelling and some rather loud farting from the gutter masquerading as an exhaust.
 :\

So, 47MPH and a bottle of Redex from Derby to Scotch Corner where I lost patience and kicked her, to my amazement she cleaned her throat and we had great fun on the A66.
Some of those bends don't have sneak up on you in the dark mind you.

M6 and she choked again, another 46MPH run from Penrith back home to the 'Weeg, so about 12 hours from finding the A1, one numb arse but still a grinning Mel.
Work on an hours sleep wasn't so much fun mind you, but hey.

So, any of you other fine buggers got such a toy lying around in the shed?
If so, anything to watch out for or must do mods?

Events, Meets, Ride outs etc / Kinlochleven bimble Saturday.
« on: 09 August 2012, 03:01:39 pm »
Baloo and mesen have made the bold decision to actually try and ride our bikes for once.
Outlandish I know, but hey, that's the kinda guys we are.
 ;)

So, the rough plan is head up to Kinlochleven on Saturday via Loch Lomond, mibbes a stop off at The Welly then go do some laps in the glorious sunshine.
Thinking on an 11 kick off.

Anyone else in?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Replacing water pump inlet pipe
« on: 09 August 2012, 02:57:49 pm »
After eventually getting enough hours of not rain to go out and inspect 'Bee, I've traced the coolant leak to the water pump inlet pipe.
I've a replacement set of assorted water and oil pumps coming from the Bay of Flea, but after that I'm not sure what to do.

Anyone done this?

Looking at the service manual it appears to be a case of drain the coolant, remove the radiator hoses from the associated pipes, unbolt them and just pull it out.
Fnar.

HOWEVER, experience says that Yam have a habit of making things slightly more complicated than that.
Not me, I'm a veritable mechanical genius...
:rollin

I'm fairly happy playing with things (did the R1 fork mod/rebuild mesen, service her happily, swapped the butterflies out etc) but is this gonna turn around and bite me in the arse is my question.

She's my daily commuter, so could really do without foccin' her up.

Neil and I are meeting up for a few beers to plot our invasion of Europe during the summer through in Falkirk, any of you rum buggers fancy a couple of pints and some pish talking?
Weather looks to be eternally gash, so thinking beers in the evening will make up for it.

No details past that yet, but the more the merrier.
Literally.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Kevlar pads; thoughts and opinions
« on: 24 May 2012, 07:55:14 pm »
Need to do a full brake overhaul this week, seals 'n all as the winter kicked seven bells out of 'em.
Thanks to the fabulous forty driver I now know they are kinda spongy due to my closing speed being slightly higher than I thought...
 :o ;)

So, I'm going to be replacing the pads and usually go for EBC HH sintered (alhtough I cheated and fitted cheap goldfren ones last time, won't be doing that again), but saw kevlar ones online.

Iirc they are less well wearing, but anyone running them want to pitch in with thoughts on feel and overall stopping power?
Cheers.

I see Russ mentioned how we were going to get down to the Dales in the Scotlandshire thread, but figured it deserved it's own wee thread.

I'm up for the bimble down to Scotch Corner, meeting the Fluffy Dooks and heading on down with them.
Russ, if that's the plan where you want to meet up?
I'm thinking motorway down to you, then cross country as much as we can to the meet.
I'll stick a link to here on the book of Face too, just so every bugger can see what's afoot.

Not that I'm easily diverted from, oh look, a bear, from current thoughts and plans, but...

Man, that bear is dancing wearing a grass skirt and coconuts.
Anyway.

How about heading over to Germany for the International Fazer Meet toward the end of July?
Or we could take the tents, piss off over there 6th July and not come back until August?
;)

General / Happy Saint George's Day
« on: 23 April 2012, 12:41:41 am »
Just a wee post to wish all you English buggers Happy Saint George's Day.
Hopefully you all have lashings and lashings of ginger beer to hand and the weather in Englandshire holds out.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Bloody hex head bolts made of cheese!
« on: 21 April 2012, 12:48:41 pm »
Replacing my fork seals is taking WAAAAAY longer than it should thanks to Yam's insistence on making the mudguard bolts out of cheese.
What should be a two and a half hour job has so far taken me the thick end of two hours just to drop the foccin' forks out.
Ended up losing my patience and twatting the mudguard with a BFH, so it's now in slightly more pieces that it was when it left the factory.
 :rolleyes :lol

So, moral of the story is allow more time to do things than planned, and don't twat plastic stuff with a hammer.
 :o :rollin

Fleabay, here I come...

Right folks, I'm heading to Edinbugger on Saturday for work stuff and jumping off the train in Falkirk on me way back to meet Biggus Maccus for a light refreshment.
I know it's short notice but all and sundry welcome to join in.

Plan is as advanced as Saturday evening, but no further than that.
I suspect I'll be heading through around 4ish if I'm honest, but need to see what time suits folks.

Those in favour, say aye.

General / Check yer bikes folks, especially those of us in the 'Weeg
« on: 13 March 2012, 05:30:49 pm »
Having passed a pleasant fifteen minutes with a brace of mounted Strathclyde's finest last Thursday whilst out for my lunch I 'd suggest we all check our bikes over.
Rode past the same two tonight pulling someone over on a Gixxer, so reckon they're checking all the bikes coming out of hibernation to make sure they're all legal-ified and the like.
(Dude on the Gixxer did come across as a knob mind you, Great Western Road at 16:45 and redlined it in the first two gears away from the lights at Oran Mor, not as if there are any schools in the area or anything...)

My experience was comedy gold, if a smidge wtf?
"We stopped you as we didn't know what it was. Are you a courier and do you ever wash it?"
So, after a full pnc(?) check and a going over of the bike "What tyres are those? Chain could do with oiling. Clean your forks, Where's your numberplate light?" I was let on my way with a cheery "Wash it ya lazy foccer!!" and a check on file.

Fair play to them, me numberplate light DOES need replacing, the lead is currently tucked under the seat and her bi-annual clean and ACF treatment is due next payday.
They thought she was an off roader that someone had ziptied a number plate to...

So, make sure all is good and you've got the tax and insurance in place folks, looks to be the start of the Spring Stop 'n Check.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Fork seals gone pop - again.
« on: 05 March 2012, 08:22:44 pm »
No surprise really, weather and road ming has been keech this year and I'm the most familiar sight at the jet wash.
(Least said about wheely school and pish attempts at stoppies the better I reckon)

Anyway, reason for the post.

Wemoto still the best place to get fork seals and the like in the opinion of Foc-U?

94
Right, our well travelled but not so well dressed Trevus Maccus is back amongst his own people for a wee while.
The poor bugger is back down in Engurland on the 9th, so reckon a wee beer and bugger session at Castle Greyskull the night before would be a nice wee memory for him when he's back amongst the great unwashed of Waterlooville.

I've spoken to Trev and he's pooch sitting this week (I checked, it's not code and Dawn is fine with it) hence next week.

All those in favour, say AYE.
 :D

(Two meets in the one month, foccin' hell!)

Events, Meets, Ride outs etc / Scot's Pool afternoon Sunday March 25th
« on: 27 February 2012, 08:45:12 pm »
Righty ho folks, after talking to some of you after the last attempt, Sunday the 25th has been put forward as the next one.

So, Sunday 25th at Reardon's from 3pm, that's 15:00 for those of us that use proper times.

Be there or don't.
:D

Been trying to recall Foccers that haven't made the migration over and realised that I've not heard owt from JC211 in ages!

Last I remember hearing from his was his views on the Dale Farm thread, any of you Southern Foccers heard from him?

They've released the provisional grids for all three Moto classes now.
Interested to see what happens with the CRT teams, always liked James Ellison so be good if he can make a decent go with the Aprillia.
Saying that, Edwards is my choice for top CRT rider, hope he can manage to beat a couple of the satellite boys on his way too.

Looks like the MOTO 2 will be the one to watch though, Bradley still remains me favourite in there of the Brits, dunno what it is about Redding but something just grates.
Nice to see a lot of the old (if you can call pubescent riders old) 125 boys moving up to.
Hoping Nico Terol can pull something tasty out the bag this season, a second place to Smith would be ideal.
 :D
 :rollin

Holding judgement on the Moto3, although Vinãles will be getting my vote, talented wee prick.
Not sure about both the Dannys if I'm honest, shame Taylor Mac has gone to BSS, although I'm sure he'll do well wherever he is.
Be nice to see him on Moto2 in couple of years, but suppose supersport didn't do Gino Rea or Crutchlow any harm.

99
Dunno about you lot but I had a cracking time in Rear Ends t'other week, so wondered if any was up for a repeat performance?

Seeing as Greyskull seems to have fallen by the wayside atm, figured it would be guid to catch up with folks who've been MIA for a while.
Billy, Baz, Dougie and Raz to name but a few.

Thinking a Saturday afternoon/evening might suit more folks as they can have a few scoops and a blether and still be home before Casualty.
On the telly, not requiring I hasten to add!!
;)

What you think?

Evening fellas.
Raymundo the Magnificent has suggested a wee pool session tomorrow night, plan is Reardon's on Hope Street from 7ish.
Hopefully see you all there.
