FZS600 Fazer / Re: Fazer a cracking bike
« on: 26 February 2014, 02:59:50 am »
Has no-one read MCN this week?
Instead of the MT-09, why not the MT-07?
Still sticking with brand loyalty (whatever that is!) but have a better bike. None of the fuelling issues the 09 has but with all the fun and only £5200 new!
If it came with a nose fairing, I'd be well up for it as a Fazer replacement.

Because some people have too much time on their hands...

The other question is "Is that a CX?"

I had my leather jackets zip replaced a couple of years go. There was a local seamstress/stitcher in town and they supplied the new zip and attached it for only £20.
Jacket still works grand and was well worth the time spent finding her.

I like those wee side flaps hiding the spark plugs. Are they easy enough to remove for access to change the plugs?

That wee lump's exactly the piece that I need.
You're a star Noggy.
I've a mate who can cut/weld bits of metal to create a rough looking version of that, so with those pics, can try to make up a couple of brackets to fit. Hopefully one of them will be spot on. It's just whether or not I can get it welded onto the right spot on the frame!

It's used more as a toast call.
It means good health, or variations of that.

Regardless, hi there Delboy. I'm fairly new myself and these lot seem pretty friendly and helpful.
Always a good thing to find.

Someone send these pics to Yamaha!
That bike looks gorgeous. The flat tank and chunky forks are just what the next FZR released needs!

FZS600 Fazer / Need help with a fairing bracket thingy...
« on: 08 February 2014, 05:25:18 am »
Hi there folks.
I'm currently (slowly) turning my Fazer back from being streetfightered into a standard, faired model but I have come upon a problem. The guy who streetfightered it originally seems to have cut off the bit of metal on the front yolk/forks that holds the fairing onto the frame. If anyone has easy access to this bit, would they be a gent (or indeed, lady!) and provide me with dimensions for it so I can get a new piece forged and welded on.
There should be a couple of pics below, showing the steering head and whereabouts it should be attached to, and what it bolts onto.

It's the bit that should stick out from the steering head and has the clock surround frame bolt to it.
If I'm not making myself clear, then please say so, cause I wouldn't want you to think I'm like that guy who changed his boxeye light unit and didn't show anyone how to...

Also, it's 5:26am, I haven't slept yet, and I have to get to work in 2 hours...
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

Lovin' the full fairing there. I can see why you went for it after having a GPZ500.

It's a fiddly thing, but my speedo motor/surround/thing and cable in the front wheel is knackered. What are the chances of having yours, please, kind sir?

I bought the RST Adventure trousers at the end of summer and treated myself to the RST Paragon2 jacket just before Christmas. Best bits of kit I've ever had. Warm, dry and cozy and nowhere near as expensive as other brands out there!

If the missus ever needs new kit I tell her to go buy some. One of the joys of her having a job that pays more than me!

I know for a fact (brother works there) that Sainsbury's policy is not to ask for bikers to remove helmets as it could cause aggravation, even though they'd appreciate it if we did.
The only time they WILL ask to remove a helmet is if anyone wants to buy cigs or booze so that they can confirm the age of the customer, which I can accept as a company policy, 'though my brother has said that if they can see that the biker is definitely over 25 (say, 40+) then some cashiers won't bother asking for removal!
Anyway, I always fill at Sainsburys as they're generally cheaper, if there's no pay-at-pump available anywhere else.

Hot water will react chemically with any salt left on the bike, but cold water that hits hot bike parts will just boil away into steam and not leave as much damage, (but remember to up the cleaning schedule!)
If your brakes seized slightly after a few days, then maybe your seals are starting to perish. I had a full brake service done in summer after a couple of dust seals had given up the ghost and mine have shown no bother since then, regardless of weather(I also ride everyday to work.) Worth considering maybe?

Hey, it may be low powered, but the NTV isn't dull!
Are there any bikes that are actually dull?
Isn't it more to do with being a boring rider than anything else?
In which case, who declares that someone is a boring rider?
If you ride two wheels, is dull even an option?
Is anyone going to answer my questions?
Should I stop asking them?

Tune in next week to find out folks!

...illumination great with  Phillips X-treme Vision H4 bulb.

Good to hear! Do you know if they'd be ok with the original headlight fitting?

Twin dominator headlights, also known as candles!!!!!  ;)

Candles that aren't lit either!
Utter crap they are. Anyone know of a decent set of bulbs for when I revert back to the original fairing set?
PM me!

She doesn't have much done to her, just the fairing/lights changed, slightly lowered footpegs and some renthal bars put on, but I'll be reverting her back to normal mode before New Year hopefully.

Ladies and Gents, may I introduce you to Imelda.

The only problem with riding it that fast, is the cost of fuel! With the aftermarket exhaust on it, I can get 48-50mpg at best. My last bike, a Honda NTV650 would give me 60-65mpg, but then, what do I expect with only 49bhp to hand!

Cheers for the welcome though!

I'm reverting my streetfightered bike back to standard fairing/lights as the wee twin lights available for it are only there so it'll pass an MOT. Really, even in highbeam mode, there's no illumination on the roads. I may as well stick a torch on the front.
I like the look of your single headlight, as you say, reminiscent of the old XJR1200 style, especially in the yellow! Although I quite prefer the shape of the original Fazer fairing.

Just showing my face here for the first time. Got an old style, streetfightered, Fazer 600 but I'm working on restoring it back to original factory settings.
It's my first long use inline 4 and feels very weird, being so used to having singles, twins and V-twins all my life!
Why is there no power before 3k revs?
