Digital gear indicator Gen 1 ?
« on: 18 December 2022, 12:54:14 am »
I simply want to purchase a digital gear indicator that is a plug and play device, if it exists? Something with clear and concise instructions on how to fit it to a Gen 1. Or a link to a video that shows exactly how it should be done, any cutting into the loom or crap like that is a definite no no! Any recommendations or advice gratefully received as I am sick hunting for the elusive seventh gear.  Many thanks.

Healtech for me too. I fitted one  five years ago now, been absolutely problem free, easy enough to install from the instructions, FZ6 S2 Fazer model.

Hmmmm…… The product seems good, but!   Call me suspicious, the first review is about fitting to  a Gen 1, it mentions a plug (fine) and two wires…… ?  No mention of connectors or fittings on these!  I am not using scotchlocks, soldering or splicing as they call it!  The pictures do not show the cable end plug/wires/connectors to know what you are expected to do with them?  I simply cannot be arsed ordering stuff only to send it back!

Another vote for the Healtech, but not literally plug’n’play. Simple to fit though.

Waiting on some info from the suppliers, may still give it a go. 👍 Many thanks.

PZRacing GearTronic Zero Gear Indicator Yamaha 2004 FZS1000 Fazer | eBay

I went with the PZRacing version a few years back.

It is semi plug and play, as you'll have to join one wire into wiring for the speed sensor, but it is all very straight forward, with all the connectors and decent instruction supplied. All the connections are under the right-hand panel below the seat.

I fitted the indicator onto an angled bracket attached to the top mounting bolt for the dials, so that is sits just above the speedo, between the dials and the screen.
