left hand mirror change

(1/1)

butthead:
Hi all ,
managed to drop the bike in the garage today just moving it around , clumbsy f***  so it sheared off the mirror on the swivel pin adjuster casting.  do you have to take the entire plastic instrument panel surround off to access the mirror bolts?  or if you undo half as in the side you need to access, will the plastic give enough to get to the mirror bolts , anyone tried ?

TIA

Grahamm:
If you still have the fairing inners in place (the bits of plastic between the tank and the front fairing) take them off and chuck them in a box!

They serve absolutely no useful purpose, they are entirely cosmetic, and just get in the way if you ever want to do any work or lift the tank etc.

Once you've done that, you should be able to see two bolts at the bottom of the mirror mount, just undo them and it should come off easily.

Take out the two button head screws in the upper inner panel, carefully pull the top away from the mirror mounting, use a small extension and socket or a nut spinner (10mm A/F) and undo the nuts, be careful to catch the spacers on the studs, and not drop the nuts. Easy really. Refit the panel
