FZS600 Fazer / Re: Restyling a fazer - tidy tail faring?
« on: 23 February 2014, 03:42:58 pm »
Just got this off the previous owner

You can go up to 1.3mm but I found there was a lack of power at the bottom end.... as far as I remember there are 1.15mm jets in yours....

I will go though the old paperwork and see if there is any info there as well

What pix you after?
Or if your near the sussex area drop me a pm and see it for yourself

It's got 4 pod filters and been rejetted
Twin light that will be going for a headlight mask
And it's going to have a USD fork front end swap

Just a ongoing project really

The seat unit is a copy of a 748/916/996
You can find loads of them on evil bay

I have all forks and yokes already off of a yzf

Christo
I'm not sure what your asking? Will they fit what?

If your asking will R1 forks fit fzs600 yokes the answer is no
Your also need the spindle, spacers front, fender etc...
I would be looking for a compleat front end not just forks
Don't forget with the R1 front end the fzs spindle is thinner so your need to get it adapted

Just a little update
I've managed to score a used pair of blue dot calipers
So next week I'll be getting the stems swapped and the calipers carriers milled

Ok first update

The stem from the fzs600 is 30mm where it goes into the yoke

The yzf750 hole for a stem is ?????

30mm
I think we have a winner

I also have found a machine shop with a press that can take out the stem and refit it

They also will mill out the caliper carrier so I can for the fzs600 blue dots

I have seen the yzf 750 front end put on a fazer
As the other mods you need to press out the stem and put it in the yzf yokes

I will be looking for a machine shop to do mine tomorrow
I will let you know how I get on

62
Well my first attempt of using carbon wrap
It's a ok job. A few creases that I couldn't get out
But pleased with for a beginner

Will stick it on the bike tomorrow and see how it looks

Cool thanks for the advice
Well it could save me £60 on a referb kit if that's the case

Hi fuzzy

I'm not sure about that but it's somthing I can look at
I would have thought that 6 pot calipers would be better than the fazer 4 pots?
Please correct me if I'm wrong as I want to only work on it the once lol

Pix of the front end I'm picking up tomorrow

I have ordered a fork seal kit as I want to refer  them before I put them on
Also going to get a brake caliper referb kit and make sure it's all working and safe before assembly

I have taken my inspiration from this bike

Looks like the forks stick out of the top yoke due to the difference of lengths on the stem/neck

Speedo solution is to replace the dials for a digital one
This will also be a smaller unit to fit behind the headlamp mask

Prob go for this one
http://bit.ly/1hZLfpb

If the callipers won't fit I think I'll refurb the yzf ones before the refit starts

Just made a deal for a YZF front end

Hopefully with swapping out the steering stem for the fazer one it will be a hassle free fit
But before it gets on I think I'll swap out fork seals

Any idea if the fzs calliper will fit onto yzf for legs?

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Crash Bungs
« on: 26 January 2014, 07:39:42 pm »

These have a T shape member, which tends to just give on a slide. Good in that it doesn't put too much stress on the frame, but bad in that the bobbin then bends flat against the crank cases and breaks the belly pan it's protruding through. They do bend back fairly easily with mallet, but one of mine is about the snap off completely. Seriously considering ditching the belly pan and going down crash bars route.

Just a question,
Where can you get the belly pan mounts from?

Yay it's like crimbo

Might have to slack of work tomorrow and see if I can get them fitted

I still need the bracket for the hugger
So if anyone has one going please pm me

Now what do I do about colour?
Black like the rest of the bike or try the carbon film effect

Cheap and effective mods

Take off the fairings handle bars and sell them
Use the cash to get a set of dominators and renthals
