a Kawasaki Z650 tailpiece and seat

Nice, but the best looking bit is the Z650 tail unit with 2/4 seat. But then, I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Z650 fan  :D
The pipes look good there too.
If i had the money to be buying older bikes, I'd be wanting to do similar mods. Mostly contemporary kind of things from their day, plus handling, and maybe a little tuning.
My ultimate project would have been a Z650 with 750 barrels taken out to 810. A chap who used to work at a local bike dealer had this done to his, and it's something that I've wanted to do for donkey's years. Improve handling (I've seen one with RGV front and rear ends) and chassis strength, but retaining the standard look as far as bodywork/lines go. Alas, I never had either the money or skill to do such a thing.

Agree totally on the Z 650 tailpiece - took an age to find the right tank shape to go with it, then had to redo all the seat mountings ! But, very happy with the result. Classic and Motorcycle Mechanics did a little feature on it in 2002, very proud of what was achieved at a young age.

I knew i had seen it before!

I would be careful fitting 17" wheels as the steering geometry will be way out as front is a 16 and rear an 18. lower at front and higher at back :eek  making front higher and back lower....both going in opposite directions. I'm sure you have a plan!

Really feel for you. Best option is a dictaphone to record her. Easily kept in pocket. Record everything so that if you decide to take action you have proof. :(

It's a factory 2017 Tuono 1100 v4. The factory model comes as a single seater. My old 1000 v4 I had to fit the rsv4 tailpiece..

It was years ago I fitted the front end... the top yoke is made by lsl , the bottom yoke is from a 2003 r1.  I had the steering stem made to suit the yokes by a guy on American fazer site.  I then had to buy bearings from bike bearings in England to suit the steering stem and diameter of steering column. I will try and find any paperwork I have and list it.

I bought my fazer in 2005 brand new and within 2000 miles had the full monty fitted by Mike. I have fitted r6 shock, 2008 R1 front end and lot's of other accessories over the years. The bike has been amazing.... But times are changing and modern bikes are now, very advanced. I used to ride my Fazer and think it was top level handling and motor. It still is in many respects, but for a hooligan ride out at the weekend it's not doing it for me as much as my other bike, so now it has a new role... I am actually doing more miles on it because of this! It now is my all round travel bike/ winter bike. I have taken it to orkney isles, western isles and everywhere in between and it has been faultless apart from the alarm :\  I still love it. Never to be sold.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: R1 / R6 Front Master Cylinder
« on: 19 July 2018, 08:33:22 pm »
Fairly sure it's been covered before but I just wanted to say that I've recently changed out the front brake master cylinder and the difference is substantial.
Horrified by the price of Brembo aftermarket units, I fitted a 16mm R1 radial master cylinder from the 2004-06 model. I believe the R6 master cylinder from 2008 onwards are virtually the same and are also a relatively straight fit. Costs around the ton and worth considering if your bike is soon due for a master cylinder rebuild / refurb.
Braking is always a subjective thing but I have to say that there's a lot less effort required to build stopping power towards max....yet somehow the sensitivity is still there, certainly enough to avoid overloading the forks / locking the front up.

Recommended!
Pics to follow

Is it the r1 5vy model ? Do you have pics to show it mounted?
