Hello me again.
So bought a replacement rad off fleabay and the angle of the top right inlet is wrong sonthe hose doesn’t marry up and its useless. Are they all like this , can anybody provide a link to one they bought with no bother?
Cheers.
I believe this miss alignment has been a long standing issue. I remember posts on here years ago about it - not sure if its the same supplier but its the same issue.
And what the hell has happed to yours it looks like it has totally collapsed.

Do you have to put a thin bit of wood in between the pistons, otherwise is there a possibility of the pistons compleatly popping out.

The actual spin is that they are being paused until 5 years of data has been gathered . Others that are almost compleate will be still be finished.
No matter as I will not be riding or driving in any of them along with many other free thinking folk who do not belive the (any government) crap, who told us they were a safe and effective ways of expanding capacity.

What about just keeping the down one tooth permanently on the bike. Unless you do a lot of long distance motorway I can't see a problem.

Speedo reads out and Im not wanting a speedo healer particularly, plus its a sizeable hit on economy. I dont mind swapping sprockets, its no bother to me and doesnt take long at all, its just the cost of the nuts thats winding me up. I will get around one way or another, safely.
yes I can see the hit on economy but that is easily controlled by your right hand is it not ;) . Unless you do a lot of motorway and dual carriage way riding.
I was under the impression the speed readout it fed by the front wheel.
Sorry my bad i thought you had a FZS Fazer. Perhaps if you did then you would have no need to go down a tooth :lol

They are now being scrapped because they are not safe.
This how they are spinning it.

The Department for Transport said the new schemes would have cost more than £1bn, and cancelling them would allow time to track public trust in smart motorways over a longer period.

I don't put E10 in my bike, I have a big problem when a goverment go's out of their way to tell me things are safe and effective. I don't always put it in my much newer car either and when i put in the zero E stuff in my car I am sure that I get more MPG out of it

« on: 07 April 2023, 11:14:47 am »
My insurance a couple of years ago only went up by £10 so I went with it as wasn't interested in spending time getting cheaper quotes ringing them up spending an hour in a que all for £10. But the next year it went up by £12 so I let that go but this year this frog has woken up and will no longer be slowly boiled. So I will search for a better quote.
With my current insurance my bike is under a future classic vintage cover  :eek

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Sprocket Nut
« on: 06 April 2023, 08:56:14 pm »
Years ago when this was talked about more it always seemed to transpire that 98s where the nut had a problem turned out to of had a new sprocket in the past somtime so had been taken off previously and most likely not torqued up correctly and or used the wrong treadlock. Saying a 98 does not have the issues,  it only refers to a factory fitted untouched 98 sprocket nut.
If the OP still has the same factory fitted sprocket then I would say change it for the wide nut when you do the chain and sprockets. If they have already been done then take doubt of the nut and replace with the wide one.
Yamaha themselves at the time said that 98s were not affected.

« on: 06 April 2023, 01:28:15 pm »
There was never really an issue with '98 models, and i think the 25 year time span kind of speaks for itself. I wouldn't go out of your way to change it until you need a new front sprocket, and as it's only a few quid now just swap it over then.
Yep I am with darrsi on this, I have long held a theory that has yet to be proved wrong that the 98 never had the issue. But definitely replace with the new wider nut when you change the sprockets and chain which must be any time now. How many miles has it done.
On the other hand it must of had the chain and sprockets changed and the owner just put the old one back on. In which case I would replace as you have no idea if they have put it back on with the correct torque and or thread lock

General / Re: Fitting "always on" indicators
« on: 20 March 2023, 05:06:02 pm »
I wa sat in the motor car at the traffic lights waiting for green, the driver in front must have had his foot on the brake pedal the whole time waiting. When he pulled away, I was blind
Yes that is very annoying and inconsiderate and I have noticed that the LED ones are supper bright - even the normal LED rear lights are almost as bright as fog lights.
Whilst on the subject of stupid light designs, there seems to be trend appearing of rear lights spanning the whole of the back of the car in a long strip. I just think that if it ends up with most cars like that when on a motorway the whole road in front will just appear as a solid red block with no means or aids for your eyes to separate the cars you are looking at. Which is not good for judging the road ahead.

Oh they're awful and highlight a benefit to having those who don't switch on their lights believing/insisting they are already on.
Any thoughts on the led strip indicators which roll on like KIT  :thumbdown
yes stupid gimmicks for children.

I nearly pulled out on a car the other day thinking it was turning left, then i suddenly remembered this post so held back as i had only quickly glanced at it, then when i looked again sure enough both amber lights were on as well as their headlights too.
Really is a daft idea, and quite deceiving.
Agreed but would put it a little stronger than daft

I went from the oem to a double bubble and didn't notice any difference. 5*8 tall.
Couldn't be bothered to put the oem one back on.
Some people even say taller screens just re direct the wind blast from your chest to your head.
A different helmet may have a bigger impact on noise

« on: 02 March 2023, 04:15:32 pm »
The jury's still out on this one, I think it'll run for a while more yet too. Mines FI, but I wont put E10 in it, Ill ride around till I can fill up with ethanol free or at worst E5. Why? Because I can feel the bike does not pick up as cleanly when opened up, and I have read that there is a slight loss of bang for your buck too. Personal choice. And I have a deep mistrust of governments and multi nationals regarding the agenda for diluting down fuel.
Nope I do not trust the Gov either and will not put E10 in my bike and now also I am alternating E10 and 97ron in the car and I am sure I get more MPG with 97ron in the car than the E10. Not sure if I get more mpg with the bike as I do not ride my bike to save fuel.

I have a fix for them ----- I don't use them. But in the old lane 1, I am still looking out for drivers suddenly avoiding a breakdown ahead.

Come to think of it, no i am not actually sitting on the bike when rolling it off the stand but just stradling it.
And yes I am totally confused now what Ratters is asking. Sidestand, centerstand, handstand, I don't understand. :lol

I think any info about an fz6 centerstand may be confusing for the OP who is needing help with his FZs 600

Perhaps we should just keep any experiance on the subject to the fazer FZs 600.

Odd he has not come back here, hope he isn't lying under the bike calling for help after it fell on him when he followed fz6 procdures for his fzs

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Centre stand
« on: 28 January 2023, 10:55:46 am »
To get off the stand always sit on the bike first and just push forward and roll off it really easy and safe having both feet on the ground reduces the risk of drop if it gets the better of you and leans away from you if you are on one side.

That rather depends on whether your legs are long enough to be able to flat-foot the bike on both sides...!
I can not flat foot both sides whilst its on the centre stand but can get enough toes on the ground to push off the stand and as Darrsi says both hands are on the bars and I have control of the front brake. Maybe its totally different for your FZ6 as we are talking about the FZS which is Ratters bike. Like you mentioned first putting the side stand down to put the bike on the centre stand which would just get in the way for me on an FZs.

When putting it on the centre I always make sure it is fully sitting on both stand feet as there is always the unintentional bias towards your side of the bike which could over time perhaps bend the stand making it increasingly more difficult to use.

Ratters thinks his stand may be off an FZs 1000 but aren't they completely different looking and should be able to tell just by looking at it.
