Shock top mount bolt
« on: 27 July 2022, 03:03:59 pm »
I am replacing my standard shock with a 2017 R6 unit. I am making some top hat bushings to step down from m12 to m10.

Wondering whats the difference in the shock top bolts. There is a spread in cost for the suspension bolts, and some are black, some silver.

Anyone know if the standard R6 top bolt is long enough for the fazer mounting.

Easiest & cheapest option it to slowly drill out the top shock bush to accept original bolt, we've mostly used stainless washers at each side of top bush to take out the side play, think they're 1mm washers, poss 2mm?
can't remember?
Bit fiddly to get bolt thru & hold washers inline ... superglue washers to shock or frame makes life easier, don't forget, top of shock needs filing down a bit to clear the frame tube.
130mm dog bones if I remember correct will bring it back to near factory ride height, shorter = more ride height.

Been a few yrs since I did mine, sure some other Fazer guru will correct my info if I've advised wrongly. :thumbup
Hope this helps?
