Just had mine out. Two people can lift it with ease and I fitted it in the back of my mates Mini Countryman car.

I'd be inclined to give the engine a good degreasing then spray it with heat resistant spray while you've got it out of the frame, 'cos it's the perfect time to do it for a bit of future proofing on the paintwork.  :)

I took the engine out to clean it and to get some exhaust studs out. The engine paint is in brilliant condition it's just not that clean. So going to give the bike a really good clean along with the engine :)

Although to be fair, when do you ever really have to change your airbox.

When I try to remove it to see the overall condition and break the foccer and stamp on it furiously! Where is my mirror I want to smash it on the ground!  ;)

How do you remove the air box? Took the carbs out and removed the rubbers on the air box. I am removing the engine and want to know cause it is a mystery to me, it's just to long!

There is 1 hex head bolt (12mm socket i think) at the top of the airbox connecting to the frame, and 1 one each side also behind the black plastic side covers.
Ideally to get out in one piece without cursing and wrecking something, take it out after the engine & put it back in before the engine.
I forgot to put it back in before the engine and i had to dissemble the airbox as much as it would and fight with it to wedge it back in, best avoided. :thumbup

So let me get this right, in order to change your airbox you have to dismantle the whole focing bike AND take the engine out? STUPID YAMAHA!! :rolleyes

Try the front sprocket nut? Fazers have common problems with them.

I had a problem where the bike was squeaking and grinding over 30mph. Turns out my front wheel bearings where fucked. Check them.
That's the technical term......  :lol

I'd rather say fucked than disintegrated or not there  ;)

Still have 'em, if you're interested. Thanks His Dudeness for the free marketing!  ;)

Bodged mine together as a quick MOT repair and will need replacing soon. If I don't get Stainless Steel ones, I'll give you a shout if you still have them :)

Two stud have snapped, there is plenty of stud left to get a stud remover on but are too short to use. Does anybody in the Manchester area have one I could borrow for the day and I would repay with beer tokens. Preferred one is 1/4 inch impact stud extractor (2mm - 8mm).

FZS600 Fazer / Taking the downpipes off any tips?
« on: 04 May 2013, 11:34:23 pm »
Just found out that my pipes have a crack in two places of what I know of. Any one ever taken them off and if so how easy is it?

Been told that the bolts can sometimes weld to engine and snap.

FZS600 Fazer / Chain and sprocket recommendations??
« on: 03 May 2013, 03:04:56 pm »
MOT is at the end of the month and with the current chain and sprockets on it, it won't pass.

Heard so of you talk about the D.I.D chains. I was looking at this...

My mate recommended me this. He has 30k miles on it on his hornet and is only just starting to stretch.

So talk to me :-)

This is the chain. http://bit.ly/Zne7gf

For about 2 month I didn't look after it. Then I sat down cleaned it and oiled it. And I keep it clean and oiled now.

FZS600 Fazer / Chain needs replacing, it's only done 3000 miles
« on: 01 May 2013, 07:09:22 pm »
So my chain has only done 3000miles and needs replacing. I'm kind of pissed off about. It has a couple of seized links.

My sprockets are fine. Should I just replace the chain?

FZS600 Fazer / Thanks for the help
« on: 29 April 2013, 06:23:47 pm »
Just a quick thanks to everyone who helped me out on my brake topic.

Found out what the problem was with the squeaking/crunching. Turns out my wheel bearing and completely collapsed. Changed them both and added new dust seals and it rides a treat now :)

The reason I didn't notice it was the bearing is because I was have problems with the breaks as well so I thought it was all the same thing. Anyway brakes have been bled and now are super duper!

Again thanks for the help  :D

Have you been on Gearing Commander yet?

Just been on that and gives you some good info. I love my acceleration me ;)

Shame I am on restricted license.
