Ignition wire snapped
« on: 14 December 2015, 10:04:03 am »
OK guys, one of the ignition wires had frayed and was making the bike cut out, when examining the problem this main red wire literally fell out, I got no problems replacing the ignition myself but in the mean time can someone tell me the correct wire I need to splice into to get it running (my Haynes manual is at home and I'm having problems downloading the wiring diagram on my phone)
Thanks in advance guys

Removed again.

You will still need to switch on the ignition for every thing to work.

So to clarify I'm  splicing 3 wires together not just two right?

Ideally splice the red to the fairy dust and ant powder

You will still need to switch on the ignition for every thing to work.

Not being funny but is it really a good idea to explain how to hot wire our bikes on a public forum

What I told him to do will not start the bike with out the key in the ignition and switched on.

Ignition switch switches 3 circuits. Normal thief will bunch them all together and foc up the system.

I gave him one of the 3 circuits which is for the red wire only.

Ah, should have read your post more carefully, so he'll still need the key to complete the circuit. Sorry unfazed  :o

The connections that the ignition makes when you turn the key are there in black and white in the wiring diagram. Anyone who steals bikes could work out what wires to connect in about 30 seconds from the wiring diagram. If you're going to have a go at anyone have a go at Yamaha for making it so obvious how to nick your bike :lol

Mr dudeness I said sorry.
As for my post, I didn't think it a great idea to post such facts on an open forum. Ok so like you say pro's would sort it in seconds but now its been broadcast the Muppets can steal them too

No need to say sorry :lol I'm just saying blame Yamaha for making it so obvious. Doesn't take a pro to work it out, they've joined the wires for you in the picture! Have a look

I've got rid of the info on here that gives scrotes the information they need to hotwire a fazer. I know the information is out there if they want to find a wiring diagram, but lets not make it easy for them.

The way I see it is it's going to be muppets after a joy ride taking our bikes, not the pro's. Not meaning to offend anyone, but there not really worth stealing.

I had a similar issue punkstig but it was the wire for my sidelights that broke. You can open that ignition up and solder the wire and close it back with regular bolts if you don't wanna fork out for a new barrel. getting the anti theft bolts out was a pain in the back side though. There's a 3rd party barrel on eBay for about £30-40 if i remember though.

Yeah, I've seen those, first off I'm. Going to search my box of bits, I'm hoping i have my tcat ignition left over from the front end conversion, 2nd option is taking the current barrel into my mechanics to get those bolts drilled out to solder the broken wire back on.
3rd option is one of those pattern barrels!
