General / Squiffy rear end on my fazer 1000
« on: 31 March 2014, 05:30:01 pm »
Hi all, I was out yesterday and the rear end on my fazer felt a bit wayward. Might just be greasy roads but it's a pr3 tyre at 41 psi and plenty of tread.
When I got back I tried looking for worn bearings etc. The only play I found was in the shock linkage somewhere. When I lift the back of the swing arm up and down I have a slight movement. Is this normal. I replaced all the linkage bearings last year when I put the r6 shock and replacement dog bones on.

« on: 08 November 2013, 12:05:23 am »
Anyone know of any secondhand fairing lowers for an FZS1000 fazer. Or a company or website  where you can order new ones. I have seen the TCP website but you cant seem to order off there, just email them.

General / water repellent for visors
« on: 08 November 2013, 12:01:40 am »
Does anyone have recommendations or suggestions for products to use on the outside of your visor to help make the water run off, without having to keep wiping.

Thanks in advance.  :)

General / anyone gone to the Farmyard rally on here
« on: 15 June 2012, 09:18:20 pm »
Spotted a blue gen1 fazer in blue with matching helmet, all loaded up in the rain on the A1. Presumably heading for the farmyard rally.

Certainly dedicated to be riding down there in heavy rain to spend the weekend in a soggy tent getting rained on a bit more. The alcohol will help though! :)

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Ivanized fuelling problem.
« on: 06 May 2012, 01:57:54 pm »
My fazer had the full monty Ivan treatment done by Mike last year and to be honest my bike didn't seem to be a lot different. I don't know if I was expecting too much, although it was much smoother on cold start with the choke.

I got the opportunity to have my bike tested at Jordan's dyno in Leeds yesterday. The results were 129bhpat the back wheel (which I think is about std without Ivan kit) and lean fuelling right accross the range. The tester advised that I needed bigger jets between 3 and 5 sizes bigger.

1. I suspect that my Simmi silencer may not be helping the available horsepower so which silencer gives the best horsepower increase or works well with the Ivan full monty kit.

2. Is Mike on this forum or coming to the uk this year. Or are there any recommended places to get my carb jetting altered in the North East as Jordans in Leeds wants £150 for re jetting and they are also 90 miles away from me.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Which fork oil and how much ?
« on: 26 April 2012, 10:19:05 pm »
Hi all, Since I got my R6 shock converion last year which is amazing, my front forks have felt even worse. I have looked into full rebuilds with cartridges and at the other end of the price range, Hagon springs.
For the mileage and riding I do I have decided to buy K-Tech springs so I can specify spring weight and new oil and seals. I really fancied the fully monty cartridge conversion but there coming in at £480 ish and that's a whole lot of wonga and tbo I don't think I need it for my 'steady away' making progress style.
The big question is, while I am keeping the standard forks with upgraded springs for my weight/style. Which grade oil should I use.
Standard is 5w, but some people say thinner as damping is slow on standard, others say thicker. Some say standard oil level some say a bit more oil.

Is there any others out there that have tinkered with the oil as they have been on a budget/ being pragmatic.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / shiny bar ends at good price.
« on: 15 February 2012, 10:49:50 pm »
My steel bar ends were scuffed and rusty and I fancied a bit tasteful bling. However some nice polished aluminium or stainless bar ends seemed a bit pricey. Found these polished aluminium items. Ordered from an American company and arrived via Taiwan!

About £13 including postage, fitted straight on.
