Gen1 losing power at top end!
« on: 30 September 2013, 11:51:19 am »
I went for a quick blast on Sunday. Whilst overtaking a car I hit a ton, at which point I lost power, the bike stopped pulling, the engine felt like it was choking and failed to continue accelerating! Under that speed it runs perfect.

I recently serviced the Exup and the servo still operates. I can't think what else it could be...

Any ideas???

EXUP.

Check that the valve moves freely and that the cables are correctly tensioned. Also check they are correctly routed and that the open and close cables have not been reversed.

I'll definitely check the Exup cables etc... tonight Paul, cheers... That's a good point. I've serviced the Exup dozens of times; however it's easy to get complacent!

The air filters a very good point too Mike. I've not actually checked it since you Ivanised it 3 or 4 years ago! How bad am I...!!!

Cheers guys... I have planned to spend this evening diagnosing my issue. Now after your comments I'm looking forward to getting home and getting dirty lol... I'll let you know how I get on...

All fixed... and I feel a bit of a Tit...  :groan
Mike... You Were Spot On...
Being a bit OCD I keep a chamois leather in a plastic bag under the seat. For some reason I put it on top of the battery and yes, as soon as I gave it some beans, it sucked the bag into the intake...  :rolleyes  say no more...
Cheers all...  ;)
