For Sale & Wanted / SOLD: FZS1000 2001 VGC - £2700ovno - SOLD
« on: 10 April 2021, 04:45:45 pm »
For sale Blue FZS1000 2001 VGC.
No longer available.

Due to lack of use I am reluctantly selling my FZS1000 gen 1 :o . I’ve owned the bike for about 10 years, it’s just turned 25k on the clock and is currently sorn.It has 12 months mot, new back tyre, new battery, new seat cover and oil and filter change. The majority of the servicing has been carried out by myself and I have kept many of the receipts.

Right the good bits: :D

  • Full monty upgrade.
  • R6 rear shock conversion.
  • Hagon front fork spring upgrade.
  • Metmachex bespoke swingarm.
  • Bespoke centrestand.
  • Datatool immobiliser.
  • Accumen gear indicator.
  • Givi top box and pannier racks. (No luggage)
  • Hugger.
  • Bellypan
  • Heated grips.
  • Braided brake hoses.
  • USB/ 12 v socket.
  • Scottoiler.
  • Devil silencer.
  • Bespoke undertray.
  • There’s bound to be something else I’ve forgotten.
Bad bits:
  • None really, just general wear and tear. For a 20 year old bike it’s in pretty good nick.
As I say it is a reluctant sale. The missus ain’t too keen on it going. But apart from firing it up occasionally I haven’t used it properly for 18 months, and covid hasn’t helped either. If it goes, it goes, if doesn’t. No great shakes.

FZ6 / Fazer / Spark then no spark
« on: 28 July 2016, 09:16:21 pm »
Fun one this. Changed the battery on my 03 FZ6s at the weekend and while I was at it checked the air filter, expansion bottle and sprayed some wd40 on and around the injector bodies.
Gave the bike a clean, put the battery on charge and stuck it in the garage.
When I came to use it the next day the engine turned over, fuel pump came to life but the bike wouldn't start.
Did a diagnostic check and there were no issues.
Thought sod it lets change the spark plugs as they need doing and it would give me an excuse to check the wiring and other areas, as those of you will know when it comes to spark plug time it's practically strip the bike down.
Having temporarily refitted the fairing and battery I found that with the plugs exposed there was no spark if I tried to start up with the button.
But they would spark up when I did another diagnostic check.
I've checked all the connections under the seat and battery box and found nothing out of the ordinary.
Anybody got any ideas.
Cheers

FZ6 / Fazer / FZ6 refurb
« on: 22 September 2014, 10:42:13 pm »
Whilst convalescing the last month or so I've been busy bringing back to life a very neglected 2003 FZ6. 11K on the clock. Only done 1000 miles in the last 5 years.
Plan was to refurbish the FZ6 to replace my FZs 600 written off 3 months ago :'(. Unfortunately 4 days after the 600 biting the tarmac I was rushed into hospital to have a heart by pass :eek. As to be expected, I've done bugger all riding this summer. My FZs 1000 has been stuck in the garage with a sheet over it. Didn't even test ride the FZ6, thought sod it, price ain't too bad, let's give it a go.
However as we all know, with any project bike, once the strip down commences along comes the unexpected bit and pieces which will eat into your pocket and proposed time schedule.
Plus the great one started to notice the amount of ebay parcels arriving at our door. And comments would come forth along the lines of "I thought you were just going to change the oil and give it a clean up"
I could have used it as a work hack, but I believed there was a better bike ready to come out with a bit of tlc and elbow grease.
Heck things all round could have been a lot worse.
Hope to give it its first ride to the last WsM bike night this Thursday.

For Sale & Wanted / Wanted: Front fork stanchions FZ6 2004
« on: 10 August 2014, 11:35:42 am »
I'm after either a pair of decent front forks or stanchions to suit FZ6 2004 model. On my present forks the stanchions are pretty pitted. So before I go any further and waste time and money stripping them down I thought it best to see if anybody in foccer land had, or knew of any about and at what price.
Hopefully somebody may.

FZ6 / Fazer / Help required new to FZ6
« on: 05 August 2014, 08:47:07 pm »
Having just received an insurance pay out for my recently written off FZS600 (Van reversed into it whilst it was parked) I started trolling thru ebay and other sites on the look out for another bike, specifically for work and a bit of pleasure riding.

As a result I've just picked up a 2004 FZ6 with 10K on the clock that needs a bit of work on it (an excuse to tinker in the man lab).

One thing that needs to be addressed is the rear shock which has definately seen better days. Can these be serviced or will an alternative shock be suitable? I'm not bothered about Ohlins or Hagon aftermarket shocks unless they're being practically given away. A quick scan on ebay didn't bring much up either.

Also what other areas on this bike do I have to look out for?

Hope there's a foccer out there that can help.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Yamaha parts catalogues online
« on: 08 April 2013, 08:28:03 pm »
Apparently since Xmas (some may already know) Yamaha have now placed their parts catalogues online. So no more trying to describe a part over the phone to your local dealer. I found this site useful recently when I was after a rear wheel spacer on me Gen 1.
Hope this helps.

Introduction / Aged newbie from Weston s Mare
« on: 06 April 2012, 08:31:02 pm »
Hi all, I've been visiting this site for the last year or so  but I never got my ass in gear until now to register. I've got a blue gen 1 which I've owned for about a year, R6 shock mod (thank you Luke), Ivanised (only fitted this morning by that very nice man from spain, thank you Mike) Metamachex swingarm and other bits. Cracking bike, especially with the mods. Have done a couple of trips on her to Scotland. Looking forward to BSB meetings etc. Also interested in any Fazer meets.

If i've done it right I should have attached a pic of my pride and joy. While I'm at it, one is also a proud owner of FZS 2001 600

look forward to any replies or sarcastic comments
