The last time I got involved in a conversation about cctv I got shot down in flames lol. I do install cctv for a living as well as all types of security systems. Im with MEM62 on this though. In my experience the Police are not at all interested in Home CCTV. I have had some really good images of people committing crimes, so good the Police were interested, but the CPS threw it out. In reality they want a shot of a face that covers most of the screen, which isnt practical. On some occasions if you are having trouble with a neighbour or someone you you know, CCTV evidence is helpful, but only to substantiate something you have witnessed yourself. If  its for your bike, good physical protection backed up with an alarm is the best way. The alarm can be connected to a monitoring centre that can give you Police reponse.

What is the best way of restoring the fork legs. Rub it down or remove the lacquer with something first ?

Get rid of the bloody thing. Never had one never will. although the 600 I have just bought has one. How long do you want a chain to last, they are not expensive. I have always, well for the last 15 years just sprayed wd4o over the chain every week. I like my bike to look nice, dont want a load of crap all over the back wheel. I have a gold chain and sprocket on my FZ1 and the treatment I give it suits it fine. Im sure other foccers wont agree, but I have had 4 Fazers and never replaced a chain.

Someone commented that with such a low post count "who is he" Well Im back, for a while at least. Ive had a look around to see whats going on now. Frazer has done a grand job of holding it all together. There are probably about 50 big posters missing. But I know they are still lurking in the wings as im told on Facebook that they still look but dont comment. The site is still fantastic for the information thats supplied. Lum who evidently no longer frequents this site, put together all the info on hot poop. Mike GTX is the master of all technical issues. Devilsyam, the King of bling . One thing this site was really good at apart from having some great arguements was the reality stuff. getting people together for bike meets. just meeting up mid week with some like minded guys that lived resonably close. Or some of the great weekends. I know the Spring Meet is still going, thanks to the eforts off Moff. but this year the Frolic took a dive and the summer meet has dissapeared. The Fazer is a fantastic bike, whether its an old one or the lastest 800. Its a style of bike, a riders bike. We need to embrace this site more, we need to get more involved, the lurkers need to come back again. I see some of the enthusiasm of new members. lets see if we all pull together, lets bring back its former glory. Comment if you want my shoulders are broad.

All the years I have had on bikes I have only ever kept the chain lubed with WD40. That includes my moto x bikes as well. my son used to race them and every week I would just spray the whole chain with the stuff. My last fazer though did 20k and the chain was fine when I sold it. I guess I dont do the going to work in all weathers and only use it for fun, but it just seems a nice easy way to keep it wet and lubed. The WD40 doesnt flick all over the wheel and make a mess. I like my bikes to look clean and tidy. Wash it weekly and give it a spray. How long do you want a chain to last ? I would think that 20-25k would be a good lifetime for one

That Galaxy looks a good phone, but after considering all tha factors I have just ordered a new I Phone 5, hope I dont regret it. I do like the the Apple, I have had both the 3g and 4. The last 4 has been a bit fragile and I have broken the back once and the screen twice. Got a rubber cover on the last one and that seems to do the job.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: How many miles on a tank !!
« on: 27 September 2012, 10:43:24 pm »
Its a bike and its for fun. Who cares what the MPH is. I filled up my FZ1 in London came back to Cambridge on the M11, two up very fast and it was on the reserve. thats about 80 miles on a tank full. On a sensible note, my car that I bought Sep 2011 has now done nearly 40,000 miles. Thats serious petrol bills.

Thank you all. I have had some good enquiries from here. Good job some people can see the wood between the trees. Incidentally I have over 2000 posts on this site and have been here since 2002. I am on my third Fazer now.

The Mr Expert bit was out of order. I have been installing CCTV for 30 years and I do know my way around it. Some peoples perception of a good picture is not always the same as others. When you do it professionally and you want to get paid its important. I have seen this cheap end market stuff in shops like B&Q and it is rubbish. Maybe you have been lucky with the 2.5 ghz stuff in your area, but believe me it is an issue, Even the posh stuff has problems.I was just trying to give some good advice, thats all. IP cameras by the way need some sort of power and cabling to the router and I wasnt critizing them. The cheap kits do not give you a nice base for retrieving the images.I

I guess this site is now for the new folks that are riding old 600 fazers with attitude problems
