QuoteFrench fisherman intimidating and ramming UK fleet that's fishing perfectly legally. Typical shoddy behaviour. Except that the French are not allowed to harvest these stocks at this time of year, in their own waters, in order to preserve the stocks. The law doesn’t apply to British vessels so they sail into French waters and hoover up the stocks. So yeah, one can understand the French fishermen’s frustration.
For those of us old enough to remember this smacks of the cod wars with Iceland. Only difference is we had a Royal navy with enough sea worthy ships to protect them.
Could this all change with Brexit !?
Iceland claimed/wanted control over international waters same as the French are now trying with the Scallop fishing.
But let's not forget that North Sea Cod stocks fell some 84% from 1870 to 2006. We almost wiped out our fish stocks.
Not sure about the "WE" remark unless the "we" are humans.
