2005 FZ6 Fuel Hose problem
« on: 20 November 2021, 05:33:48 pm »
Evening,

Apologies for the first post but I've had a bit of a nigthmare tonight. After feeding a cable through to power a quadlock and putting the fuel tank back on one of the hoses got snagged under it and I think its just chopped it in two. I've had no luck as yet trying to see where the other half of it is, and the service manual isn't very clear on where it goes too.

Can anyone give me an idea on where this one highlighted goes too on the bike, no fuel came out when i did notice it but guessing this is because the pump isn't in use with it being off?

And after its confirmed where it does, how easy is it to replace?

Image doesn't want to attach buit can be seen here: https://ibb.co/gdC7QM9

Hello BEERGOGGLES82 and welcome to the forum...never worked on a fz6   but that hose looks like a breather hose and not fuel which explains why you have no leaking petrol. the breather hose connects to nothing, just feed it through straight down usually somewhere near the foot pegs.
One, is never going to be enough.....

The fuel hose is the one I've circled in green and it attaches to the bottom of the fuel pump (the white plastic part).

There's a black plastic cap that has to be unclipped before the hose can be removed.

The open ended hose on the left side of the tank (that you circled in red) is the overflow, the one on the right hand side (at the top left of the picture) is the breather that stops a vacuum lock forming when the fuel pump pushes petrol through to the engine.

They run down through the frame at the back of the engine and, if you can be bothered, there's a square bracket at the bottom of the centre stand that they can feed through to keep them tidy.

Just make sure that, when you lower the tank, neither is caught or pinched and you'll be fine.

Can you point me in the direction of a decent site to get a new hose from (and the size I need?), I've managed to find the cut one and get it out so want to get a new hose ordered over the weekend and installed

The hose is item 23 on this site:  https://www.bike-parts-yam.com/yamaha-motorcycle/600-MOTO/2005/FZ6/FZ6-N/FUEL-TANK/15_1503-1503/B27/0/5072 (I know it says FZ6N at the top of the page, but parts like this are standard for any FZ6. You can always check for your exact model!)

If you do a search for the part number 90445-10033 you should find what you need.

Here's one on eBay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/362541246153

It's not an absolutely critical part, it's only really an issue if eg you seriously overfill your tank (ie right to the brim) on a hot day so the fuel expands and needs somewhere to go. It will stop it dripping onto hot engine parts which is not a good thing!

But you can keep riding in the meantime without worrying :)

Excellent thank you, I've gotten it ordered.

I had seen it on another place when I was looking myself under the L840 but when I was checking on ebay I couldn't see it and didn't want to get the wrong one. Thinking back with the way the hose was I must have pulled it up when I've lifted the tank up and I've not noticed it until it was too late.

Thank you for all the help with this one!
