For Sale & Wanted / Re: Looking for Fazer 1000 near Exmouth, Devon
« on: 12 July 2017, 12:30:10 pm »
Hi,
I have a blue 2002 FZS1000 nr Ottery St Mary which I am thinking of selling. 28k miles. Owned since 2005.
I used to do a decent mileage and go to events with the FOC-U but in recent years this has dropped to under 1k per year.
My bike has quite a lot of mods and accessories but most are reversible and I have all the standard kit. Price would be £2000 - £2750 depending on how much kit you had.
Call 07874 227405 if interested.

Anyone definitely going? It is time to book accommodation, ferry etc if you are. As I said in my first post, I would like to go but don't fancy it as Billy Nomates!
Cheers,
Mark

+1 for the mirror mod as shown on the US site. I did it about 5 years ago - most cost effective mod ever!!

General / Re: Fuel Prices

Most places on East Devon seem to be 1.43 - 1.45 at the moment - including supermarkets. Interestingly, although the price of a tin of baked beans is probably the same at Tescos from Glasgow to Plymouth, the price of a litre of sunflower oil follows the price of diesel and varies greatly around the country.
I wonder why they do that?
(actually I know the answer because I run my car on sunflower oil)

I don't know if this has been discussed on here recently, but the UK Fazer owners are invited to the International meet at a small hotel about 10km from the Nurburgring in Germany from 26-29th July 2012.
I have been 2 or 3 times over the last 10 years and always had a good time - ususally in the company of Locksmith, GoldFazer, Alan Sherman and a number of others.
The meet is organised by the German Fazer Club and our contact is Sascha (InTheY2k on this forum).
Does anyone fancy going this year? I'm up for it but don't fancy being the only Brit as my foreign language skills are pretty rudimentary (and shamed by the perfect English of many of the continental riders!)
Any takers?
Cheers,
Mark

I put one on my bike about 6 years ago. Still working perfectly so reliability is good. It looks so much part of the bike that I had forgotten that it was a mod. Took a morning to fit and sort out how to work it.
Cheers,
Mark

Hi Guys,
The bike was definitely in my garage last night. I think the YR5 only came in two colours. Orange/black (like mine) and Orange/White so most of them look similar. There was a purple/white but I think that was for the 250 only.
Paul. Glad you got my reply. Sorry to hear that you are so far away. How about combining it with a winter weekend break in Devon?
Cheers,
Mark

For Sale & Wanted / Classic Yamaha 350
« on: 15 December 2011, 07:49:06 pm »
I know that it isn't a Fazer but it does have a FOC-U connection.
1971 Yamaha YR5 350 twin. UK bike with matching frame and engine numbers. Tax exempt. Mot until June. Fully restored with a complete strip, refurbish and rebuild. Upgraded with modern electrics and a LC350 clutch to ensure reliability although nothing can be seen from the outside. The bike is in near show condition and only a couple of minor blemishes away from concours.
Have a look at the pics and if interested contact me at mpollard60@btinternet.com and I will send you full details. Price is £2500 for hopefully a quick sale. Dealers ask £4000+ for bikes in this condition.
Oh yes - the FOC-U connection. The superb paintwork is by none other than our very own Deefer of this parish.

Hi Nooj,
Your bike was heading towards 50k last time I saw it at the ACF day in early 2009 - still looking good. There are a few of Gen 1 1000s which have done 100k+ so the breed seems to last well mechanically.
Cheers,
Mark

Hi Sascha,
Thanks for the dates. I will try and get there this time. I see Andy (Locksmith) is also hoping to restart the habit.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Best Screen?
« on: 05 October 2011, 01:46:03 pm »
I use a MRA Vario screen but with the little movable bit taken off and the original Yamaha screen put in it's place. I did a write up with pics on the old forum about this. I am 6'2" and it greatly reduces the amount of buffeting up to about 110mph but it is noisy. The wind is obviously deflected away from the body and hits my helmet at visor level. If I duck down a bit, it all goes quiet.
Cheers,
Mark

Hi Sascha,
Welcome back. Is there still an annual meeting at The Forsthaus near the Nurbugring? I went to 2 or 3 a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed them.
Cheers,
Mark

« on: 30 September 2011, 10:33:38 pm »
I have modded the baffle in my Fuel silencer by shortening it by 50%. It is still easily quiet enough for the MoT and town work but sounds a bit fruity when you use full throttle.

Hi L,
Sorry to hear about the knees - I told you that getting your knee down too often wasn't a good idea! I've just popped in here to reaquaint myself with the Fazer bods and it has all changed! I have even had to re-register!
I still have my Fazer but have only done 2 or 3k in the last couple of years. I have got into cycling and it eats up most of my leisure time.
Regards to Mark. The paintwork on the old Yam R5 he did for me a couple of years ago is still looking good except where I foolishly left it on the sidestand with a full tank of fuel and a bit dribbled out and got under the paint next to the filler cap.
You'll always be Miss Hornet to a generation of us!!
Cheers,
Mark (Pollard)

Introduction / I'm back in the fold
« on: 30 September 2011, 03:47:53 pm »
I have just joined the new style forum. I was a member of the old one for about 7 or 8 years but have had other distractions recently which prevented much bike activity.
Still got the same Gen 1 and it still goes like a goodun.
Cheers,
Mark (on the old forum as 'mark pollard')

Hi Gringo,
I have just rejoined FOC-U today - not sure how long this new fangled site has been around. I have still got my Gen 1 but haven't been on the forum for quite a while.
Welcome back
Mark
