AIUI usually, if the part number changes, it's because they're not compatible. Or sometimes they've improved the part and it's backwards compatible. Anybody knows whether the carbs are the same one's through 98-03? As said above, Fowlers will know.
Normally in that case there's a "replaces part #blah blah" in the description

Sounds like a complete exaggeration to me.
Does exaggeration = bullshit?

Wouldn't that only apply from brand new though, over time it would change and be irrelevant anyway?
If talking ULEZ, and any changes are irrelevant original figures count

This morning while in neutral I flashed my headlights using the finger lever and noticed the temp and oil led momentarily illuminated. Is this normal?

45a Anderson Power Poles are the best solution and is what I used back in 2017. Neat finish and can be disconnected easier than the original was before burning out
How often do you need to disconnect it?

Make sure it is this particular version, as it comes with crocodile clips for your battery.
I run mine off the Optimate charging lead because on the FZ6 the battery is under the tank, so I don't have to start dismantling the bike if I need to use it!
What I meant was that on Amazon they also sell the same Airman for about £6 less but without all the extra connectors, so some people might think they've found a bargain but won't actually have the crocodile clips supplied with it.
Is £6 for a couple of crocodile clips a bargain? Thanks for the pump recommendation though

Have you tried one?
No, because I don't feel the need to pay four times the price for something which would most probably make no noticeable difference to my riding.
It maybe 4 changes but you're forgetting the cleans between which make 8 visits the the air box (OEM) as opposed to the K&N 2 visits

It's simple maths that you will save money with a K&N.
A quick check of prices suggests that a K&N filter costs roughly four times the price of a HiFlo version.
The Haynes Manual for my FZ6 recommends replacing the filter every 25,000 miles.
So that's 100,000 miles before you break even.
Simple maths.
If you leave a paper filter on for 25,000 miles your bike will not be performing at its best capacity.
If not cleaned during that 25k miles it likely it won't be performing at all on the fzs600 (as pointed out by Mtread) It's simple maths that you will save money with a K&N.

Then you have to factor in the time for each removal to air-clean or change the standard filter

cut the loom and removed the connector block and soldered back together again, 30 mile test ride and all is good, 12.6 volts when idling, rising to 13.3 when held at 4000 rpm. little bit down compared to the 600 but better than it was. Out with a few mates tomorrow morning for a 160 ish mile ride out. will let you know how things go...
Do you have any pictures to show what you actually did Paul

why not Order online from J&S try on at home they offer a good service regards exchanges and returns
I am sick of ordering stuff online then having to go through the rigmarole of sending it back, normally at a cost too. Plus I'm very fussy about gloves and jackets, so really need to try them on.
If sizing was accurate online it would make life a lot easier, but the reality is that sizes differ massively per manufacturer.
It's a free service and i seem to remember they collect from home, though don't quote me. I order a couple of sizes to try at a time, the only downside is having to pay for all up front but is easy enough

Hi,
FZS1000 looses out on the nimbleness of FZS600 so how about a VFR800 (pre vetec) as a more logical step up from the trusty 600? Even though I like the 600 it can feel too light weight for example in blustery weather on faster roads.
Opinions from people who've owned all three bikes would be welcome?
Thanks in advance.
Sorry no constructive opinion to offer just wanted to say Blustery weather on the 600 can be fun

A/the thread is cut into the outside circumference a/the shaft. If the thread has been worn away so has the shaft, to recut a/the thread the shaft must be machined parallel, it will now be smaller i.e. the thickness of what was the thread. The shaft now being smaller in circumference, by definition so will the thread size by a few mm eg was 14, now 12 or whatever depending on what thread is being cut.
Wouldn't the shaft be built back up as can be done with crank journals, before re-cutting the thread

Took a ride up the A1 to the newest entrant in Ulez testing. Got an address and how much was it..?
He's kept the pricing the same as Riverside He is very informative we had quite a long chat. and a coffee the bike is in full view through the window and there's a monitor in the waiting area showing the info. ULEZ Testing UK Ltd 01438 941222 https://maps.app.goo.gl/YUtodfYf5zmne6LJ7Oh and the retest £75 stays that price even if you decide to leave and later return to have work done (or do work yourself). I've heard of a trick involving superglue and baking powder,
If you're going to try this, use a decent quality superglue as it doesn't work well with Pound Shop version (I know, I tried it...)
Or was it a dodgy batch baking powder or even baking powder being used instead of bicarb

My brain is hurting trying to think of a way out of this.
The long term solution is to stop relying on fossil fuels.
Doesn't fix the issue now, of course, although a lot of what is causing that is actually to do with the "B Word" that shall NOT be mentioned!
You don't think anything replacing fossil fuels will eventually be heavily taxed?

Did a trip to work and back yesterday (Aprox. 15 mile round trip) and when i got it home it sounded like exhaust blowing again. The noise gets worse the longer the engine been running.Any idea's of what to look at next would be greatfully recieved.
At a guess I would say the above cancels out the the E10 idea
