Tyre size
« on: 31 December 2021, 05:19:24 pm »
Evening chaps and ladies
I know the in's and out's of different tyre sizes but, has anyone tried a 190/55 rear tyre on a 2005 FZS1000.
I only ask because I've just taken a one off the zx10r I've just bought to put track tyres on.
I have a couple of part worn 180's but would be nice to get some use out of the 190.

Thanks in advance
Mick

I'm no expert on bike geometry but if the width is the only difference, if it were me I'd say why not give it a go, I have put 10mm wider tyres on other bikes over the years with no issues but they were very low tolerance 500cc commuters, if it doesn't feel safe you can always take it off again

If you just want to knock the 190 out, I’d say go for it, but be prepared for the turn in rate to be slower. That’s the only negative effect I can think of.
