Pillion footrests
« on: 26 November 2021, 01:21:51 pm »
Hi folks. Has anyone changed the pillion footpegs on the !999 FZs600. Mine seem ridiculously small and the missus feet keep slipping off. If anyone did change them which model did they go for ?

use velcro - never heard of anyone changing them for anything other than the later FZS600 one which are a similar size but have the rubber bit on the top.

Also, you have a non-standard bolt there holding the peg on - maybe try turning it over so the head of the bolt (which is smaller) is at the top and the nut underneath. This may help your misses het her feet further towards the frame bracket.

Didn't think about turning the nut round lol. I'll have a measure up and see if I can find some slightly longer and with rubber tops.

Swap both of them for ones off the 2000 to 2003 models, bigger and 50mm lower, Straight swap and more comfortable.

1998-99 bikes had rear footrest holders that positioned the pillion pegs quite high up. You may wish to swap the rear footrest holders for the 2000 onwards version - the pegs will be noticeably lower and pillion knee bend will not be as unpleasant
