Does anyone know which yellow is a good choice for this style of paint job? I don't want to do it then find it's the wrong shade.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: FZ1 Comfort

I have a Sergeant seat on my Gen1 and it makes it a bit better. What I have found is that you need to move your position while you ride. To this end I've drilled and partially tapped my crash binge and fitted 2 X 20mm grubscrews with about 5mm protruding so that I can put my feet on them on long journeys without my boots slipping off. Then if I'm feeling uncomforable in a 50 limit, I'll get a good gap to the car in front and stand up for a minute. That lets the blood flow properly round your arse and you are ok again for another 20 miles.

After posting this I went on Google to see what I could find. There are a few on there. Enough to give me some ideas anyway.

Sorry everyone, I'm not just being obtuse. I love loud pipes. I've had one on almost every 4 stroke I've ever had. I live close to the A34 in Newcastle under Lyme and I hear bikes and cars really going for it on a miraculously un camera'd section and I love the noise. Sorry.

As the title says, has anyone done a KR yellow with black speedblocks on a Gen 1? Photos please if you have, I need to get an idea of what I'm letting myself in for. The only saving grace is that if I cock it up a bit, it can't look any worse than it does now. Thanks guys.

For Sale & Wanted / Re: Yamaha TDR250
« on: 04 February 2020, 12:09:16 am »

Dazza - In your first pic, I had a black TDR250 in '96. It made me do very naughty things, using the drop kerbs as ramps, sliding round roundabouts, riding at speed on pavements, and generally using the road like a motocross track. I had to get rid of it, I would have ended up having the book thrown at me eventually, I was safer on a 150mph superbike.
Also in the first pic, the RD350N, had one of those too. Bought it with 1500 miles on the clock at 12 months old, rode it for 24,000 miles and it never gave any trouble, apart from the usual powervalve seals, fork seals and a clutch, my first "Big" bike. Had so much fun on it, tear arsing round with my mates on similar bikes, racing CB900F's Z1000's etc, and showing them a clean pair of heels, apart from on long straights obviously.

I used a barrel and cam type from Lazer. Only cheap but worked a treat.

And all the studs came out except the one i didnt clout with a hammer. There were some that had wasted away on the diameter so that they were only half what they should have been. They still came out.

Sorry about this people. I figured out it was the fancy levers i fitted a while back. I bought some different ones and the notch went away.

I used a cheap Lazer one from eBay. Worked perfectly. I will put the photos on, they are already on here actually, just don't know where. It looked like the bike had been kept at the bottom of a salt mine.

I'll post the pictures of the exhaust studs I had to get out when I get home, but use plus gas type stuff, then when you are ready, give each stud a good whacking, put the barrel/roller extractor on and they should come out. I would recommend removing the rad completely and anything else that interferes with the swing of the hammer. I got every one out except the one I didn't smack, I had to drill and tap that one.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Clutch dragging when hot on a GEN 1 1000
« on: 31 March 2019, 12:15:43 pm »

Since i bought my second Fazer ive noticed that the clutch is not as reliable on the bite point as my last Gen 1. As the bike gets hot the bite point comes further and further towards the bar until (if im in traffic on a hot day) it no longer disengages, i can ride along with full drive with the clutch fully into the bar.

Now the last owner (on this site) told me that he had put in a clutch kit (EBC i think) with heavy duty springs. I have since been in touch and he has thrown the removed plates and springs away.

Ive been told two things.

1. Change the oil and filter, as the oil that's in it may be causing the issue. Im going to do this and see if it works before i move onto .........

2. Fit a new original clutch kit with springs, friction plates and steels. I got a price on this genuine kit yesterday and i'm looking at around £250+ for the kit, not including any labour or gaskets. I could do it myself, but if i get my local (very trustworthy) bike shop to do it,  and still doesnt work, i can take it back and they can fix it for free seeing as they told me that this would fix it.

The third option is to put an ad on here for a complete original clutch basket and fit the lot, or see if anyone has a good complete clutch kit with springs, frictions and steels.

Any advice please??

The red CB13 looks lush, the silver one not so.

What a glorious noise that CBX makes on the track!

I never really liked the CBX, by the time i passed my text in '86 there were other, better bikes available. We used to go baiting bikes like the, CBX, Z1000, CB750/900 etc on our LC's. Until we grew up a bit and moved onto GSX R750s, then it wasnt really sport anymore.

While i'm at it,

Some other stuff -

Bottles of shampoo left in the shower tray because my family cant be arsed to put them back in the rack

Wet towels strewn around the upstairs, and for some reason on my side of the bed.

Tops left off toothpaste tubes (Old one that)

People nicking my moisturiser out of the bathroom and not putting it back (dry skin on my legs see). I do get revenge though, i just go around turning all the lights on when they are asleep until i find it.

Not hanging towels up to dry.

Foccing lego all over the floor!!!!

Strictly come foccing dancing, X Factor, and any reality TV show.

Changing the subject back to the thread title......

What gets my goat is the way women wrap up the cords on irons, hoovers or anything with a plug on it. Who's ever tried to straighten out the cable on an iron ??? Me...I end up rewiring the bloody things.

They just won't be told or  :wall

Its better than just leaving the cord unwound on the floor with the plug sticking up ready for me to tread on. My missus thinks its my duty to coil up the hoover and iron leads. Gets my foccing goat it does.

For me it is a big no, £13500 for a 263 kilo MT09 with an extra wheel,
Stone me.
Meanwhile I can't keep up with Yamaha price rises.
The 2019 MT10 price is now £11,642
Fuckin B****T!

If i had paid that much i'd just think "there's 5 really good bikes there" every time i walked into the garage and looked at it.

What a surprise! This thread has been hi jacked again by political verbal masturbation.

I'll be back when this has all died down.

If you want to show how much you remember from your crap grade A level Politics exam, start your own thread and leave this formerly interesting thread alone.

Please?

I bought some earlier this year, i think they are G12's. Wired up to the bike, fantastic.

As Robbo said, on the normal hot setting, when its cold, your hands dont feel hot or cold, you just dont think about them. I didnt think they were working until one of my mates asked if he could try one on when we got to the pub, he said they were lovely and warm There is a way to make them even hotter, holding the contol button on for 5 seconds or something, i tried it once, but even when its really cold you dont really need it that high.

I paid £114 for them and wish id bought some years ago.
