« Last post by fazerscotty on 14 May 2024, 01:13:03 pm »A pal used to be a chef there, and got me a ticket to the Festival of Speed once. Going by bike is imperative as local roads get gridlocked.
I could see the issue with roads on Saturday as there was a minor event on. There was also a noisy airplane which kept taking off!

« Last post by robbo on 12 May 2024, 07:35:43 pm »Just back from Brighton. Today was the Historic Commercial Vehicle run from London to Brighton. The starting point this year was Brooklands, no doubt due to Kahn’s ULEZ. The route went via Ryka’s Cafe on the A24, which made for a good spectating place, bagging a good spot at 08:15. It took a good 2 hours for the entrants to make their way past, before jumping on the Fazer, and heading for The Chalet at Cowfold for breakfast. There was a wait for food, which I expected as it is cooked to order.
After a chill in the sun, I enjoyed my normal B road route over the South Downs, before finding a parking spot quite near where the trucks and buses etc were being displayed. A quick lap of all the vehicles was a bit of an effort in bike gear as the sun was certainly out to play, then back on the bike and home via the Ashdown Forest for an ice cream. Just about to catch up on today’s MotoGP and yesterday’s NW200 super bike race.
