Hi all,
 
I'm Dave, 37 and from Sth Dublin. I have just bought a Gen1 FZS600 as a bit of a project initially and once running properly, to use while my Vstrom gets its clutch sorted. The Vee is a heavy and bulky old beast in traffic so I'll probably use the Fazer for my 18 mile commute in and out of work too.

Needs a battery, the clutch basket refitted and new carb rubbers to get running. Rear shock is foc'd and would benefit from a good clean and a decent tune up.
I had a 5DM7 in black about 12 years ago but have had about 20 bikes since!!    In fact, the only bikes I've ever had 2 of are a Gen1 Fazer 600 (both black 2000 models) and a Vstrom 1000 GT (both black, an 08 model and an 06 model but they are basically the same bike)

Well, she's up and running..... Like a bag of spanners at the mo. Wasn't without a lot of cursing though down to my own stupidity.....

I misaligned the clutch pressure plate and wrecked the spring seats on the provided one so had to buy an OEM one from Danfay..... €62 !!!!!


Thankfully though I saved about €30 by scoring a Yuasa MF battery in Halfords for €52 (with my trade card!)

I also reckon the CCT is stuck so I'll be investigating that over the weekend when I pull the carbs to replace the inlets.

Fazers are great bikes and very easy to work on. Access is very good for most parts.

You must have got Danfays on a good day to get it for that price. They are usually €70 plus vat or did you use your trade card?

The CCT on the fazer is very reliable and does not normally stick unless the bike was idle for a very long time and the oil drains off it and some rust take hold, but even that is not to common. Most likely a worn cam chain or the CCT between notches due to wear on the cam chain.
