Title: indicator help
Post by: Rumbles on 03 March 2016, 11:44:41 pm
Need a bit of advice i helped my friend fit his dominator headlights tonight to his 99 600 and once they were on along with his new indicators , they wouldnt work correctly .. assuming it was a fuse we checked but it was fine , when put back in the right indicators would flash fine until they were cancelled but wouldn't work again after , so we pulled the fuse again and once it was back in we tried the left indicators and they done the same , work fine until they were cancelled then not work again after ..
He's ordered new led ones anyway along with a relay so I'm hoping this sorts it .. does anyone have an idea as to why this is happening ? Cheers

Sorry I don't quite understand. When you put the new ones in they didn't work so you checked the fuse. Ok got that bit. You then said when we put them back in they worked once. Which ones did you put back in (the originals, the new ones or the fuse)?

Are the new indicators LED? If not what wattage bulb do they have?

Nope it's UK model , I'll try describe it a bit better. . When the ignition is first turned on and you indicate left it will flash until cancelled then will not indicate in either direction , if you turn the ignition back off and on you can indicate either left or right but once cancelled it will not indicate again either left or right , unless the ignition is turned off and on again and will only work once . He is going to replace all his indicators along with the relay so I'm hoping this solves the problem . Thanks guys

As Deefer says indicator relay, why not swap it for the one on your bike to see if it remedies the problem , costs nothing to try.

If it is a 2 pin flasher relay, bypass it and see if the indicators work.

The reason I asked about US model is that the ones which run with front indicators on at all times exhibit the same symptom if wired incorrectly.
