Parking in london
« on: 02 February 2016, 10:04:06 am »
I'm thinking of meeting up with a pal in the next few weeks in london. Whats the script with motorcycle parking?

Different rules all over the place, depends where abouts in London?

He lives right by leicester square. i see there are free bays and pay for bays, but what are the chances the bike will actually be there when i come back.

50/50 if you don't lock it, unlikely if you leave the key in it. Otherwise it should be OK.

If you've got an Android phone download the free app 'UK Motorcycle Parking'. Shows you where all the bays are, and whether they are free or paid. City of London is free, but Westminster is £1 per day and you can pay by phone. As a result all of the COfL bays on the border are chock full but the Westminster ones usually have spaces. Leicester Square is very much Westminster. Some Bikers will daisy chain their locks to improve security

Best bet would be chinatown.  Avoid on street bays as there is no respect for other peoples bikes in London any more.  At least in these car parks there are designated bays so you don't get a scooter up yer end pipe!

Alan beat me to it,  I use Q car parks and I would say they're pretty secure and freeeeeee.  But get there early to secure a bay
