I would definitely also be interested as mine are 20 years old.

If you didn't drain off the lines and calipers you should be able to coax any air back into the reservoir by gently flicking brake lever back and forwards about half way. With the top off the master cylinder you will see air returning, carry on till it stops and you should get some pressure. then tie off brake lever over night, worked for me.

The small stubby one similar in appearance to the main jet, minus the hole.

FZS600 Fazer / FZS600 Carbs

After having slow running problems I guessed that lack of use over the winter months had gummed up one of the pilot jets. The Haynes manual only shows them stripping the Thundercat carbs but it's easy enough to suss out which is the pilot jet. My question is though, what is the brass jet next to the main jet with no hole through it and what's it's purpose?  Running like a Swiss watch again now though.

FZS600 Fazer / Modern Technology
« on: 01 March 2014, 06:08:24 pm »
Fancied a ride out today. After 6 weeks  standing in an integral garage my 3 year old XJR1300 was having none of it. My 15 year old Fazer, still on original battery, started first touch of the button having stood for the same time. Neither bike has had a charger attached during standing. Spent 3 hours riding the Fazer whilst the pampered modern beast was treated to 3 hours charging just to get it going. Is modern stuff better? Classic Motorcycle Mechanics anyone?

I've fitted a set of Delkevic downpipes, not really noticed any difference in performance, but had to take a hefty file to the centre stand as it fouled the collecter area when used. That is with original silencer fitted.

FZS600 Fazer / Engaging first gear, Clutch issue?
« on: 23 January 2014, 09:58:47 pm »
Hot or cold when I engage first gear it always crunches quite loudly. To its credit, although its done this for as long as I can remember it hasn't spat any cogs out yet. On all my previous and present other bikes holding the clutch in and blipping the throttle a few times either reduces or stops this altogether, but not on the Fazer. Are there any known problems with the clutch? It's a 1999 model, owned by me from new, 21000 miles n the clock. Please enlighten me, thanks.

It's done 21,000 miles, don't use it enough, but this year I will try harder.

FZS600 Fazer / Camchain
« on: 15 January 2014, 06:22:40 pm »
When starting from cold I get a ticking sound which goes away when warm . I had been thinking that this was a slight blow from an exhaust joint, but after reading an article on here was wondering if it could be camchain noise. Is there a problem with the tensioner? and as it goes away when warmed up does it need attention or do they all do it to some degree. any advice gratefuuly received, Thanks!
